“The last Republican elected to the US Senate from CA was “PRO-ABORTION” Pete Wilson in ‘82 and again in ‘88.”

True, but Wilson was Jesse Helms compared to Tom Campbell. And, BTW, Campbell got trounced by Feinstein the last time he decided to run for the Senate, and that was *before* Campbell came out in favor of same-sex marriage and supported raising taxes in California.

So, yes, liberal Republicans usually lose because they can’t bring out conservative or moderate voters. Pete Wilson was a moderate Republican, to the left of Fiorina, but certainly no Campbell.

Carly Fiorina is a moderate-to-conservative Republican, the type that would likely run best in California. Mind you, I’m not saying that a 100% conservative can’t win in the state, only that it is easier for a moderate-to-conservative Republican to win.

While I would have been willing to roll the dice with a 100% conservative such as Tom McClintock or Darryl Issa, they chose not to run, and the only 100% conservative, Chuck DeVore, does not appear to have a chance of winning the primary. So I’m backing the 75% conservative, Carly Fiorina.

Yes, I remember Pete Wilson well. In fact, his first campaign for Assemblyman in the 37 District was the first campaign I ever worked in.
