The federal government's response so far has consisted largely of scapegoating BP and ignoring its own responsibilities and lack of preparation, railing against Big Oil, while Congress makes plans to quadruple the federal gasoline tax, ostensibly to finance cleanups.

In contrast to Katrina where the local and state governments self destructed as a result of their own stupidity and mismanagement, Louisiana today really needs decisive, tangible, and timely Federal government support that is not there.

Federal support via the US Coast Guard was there for Katrina even during the storm, to save thousands of lives. Other Federal support arrived in due time to help and continues to help. But the blame Bush crowd is milking the non lack of Federal response as though no one, and zero dollars showed up. They are living in the past.

Today we have a clear and immediate genuine need for Federal support that is not there. Instead we have style over substance from this administration. IMO the style is not that great given the obvious incompetence of the "leaders" in charge.
