LITTLE ROCK -- An addition to an amendment of a defense spending bill being considered by the U.S. House this week could mean money for victims of the shootings last June outside a Little Rock military recruiting center.
During a meeting of the House's Armed Services Committee, Rep. Vic Snyder, D-Ark., suggested the change to the Republican amendment, which originally was designed to help victims of a shooting last November at Fort Hood, Texas.
Now the legislation acknowledges that the shooting death of 23-year-old Army Pvt. William Long in Little Rock was comparable to a combat death caused by "an enemy of the United States."
Darius Long, a former Marine and William Long's father, says he appreciates Snyder's efforts.
Abdulhakim Muhammad has been charged with capital murder and attempted capital murder in the Little Rock shootings and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Hang the perp.
How will the money be raised? Last I heard we were borrowing from future generations. I will admit, this is a much more worthy cause than cash for clunkers, cash for caulkers, etc.
Finally, some Dem noticed that he was murdered.
Blanche Lincoln's poll numbers could have something to do with ole' Vic's attention to the matter. She is getting her butt kicked! She (as a Democrat) needs all the help she can get as well as the Democrat party. They are having a hard time raising money for their candidates too.
