TROY, N.Y. -- "I'm excited about this endorsement of the Executive Committee, and I'm looking forward to heading the ticket for the Independence Party," said Attorney General and now candidate for governor, Andrew Cuomo, who picked up the Independence Party leaders' unanimous endorsement.
"Developing a broad coalition for this campaign, that I'm not going to run a hyper-partisan campaign," said Cuomo.
"We think he is the Independent voice that will take New York out of this current crisis," said Frank MacKay, the Independence Party of America's National and NYS Chairman.
The Executive Committee's support paves the way for the full party endorsement at their convention on June 5. They site his reform agenda and the more than 200-page plan for New York for their support, the first time Independence Party officials have given the thumbs up to a candidate before their own convention.
