Hey, Times! Hold a mirror up to yourselves! When you advocate inclusion of homosexual themes in reading classes, and push for “multicultural” casts in math story problems or revisionist claptrap in History, you are guilty of infusing learning with ideology too.
I guess it’s okay when the ideology in question is anti-American, anti-white, and socialist, eh?
When I read the NYT article, a song keeps running in my head, “God Bless Texas.”
of course, teachers still have to teach it...
**********
Putting this stuff in the textbooks will accomplish nothing. The kids will never hear anything about it.
If you want something to be taught in school in Texas, put it in the TAKS test. THEN the kids will be drilled on it over and over and over again.
To go off on a tangent I'm remembering an "educational" cartoon called "Histeria" that was on when I was a kid (okay I was 15 but still watched cartoons after school).
They had an upbeat musical number about how the heroic Bolsheviks arrested the mean old Tsar and locked him up. No mention of when they later murdered him, his wife, his children, and his dog. In addition to watching cartoons I also read Human Events and National Review. I quit watching the cartoon which was cancelled after not too long.
New Math...
Four illegal immigrants break inot Doc Yasgers’s farm in upstate NY. They steal jewelry and 44.00 in cash. They also eat 1/3rd of a 40 lb. ham in the fridge. Yasger catches and holds 3 at gunpoint. One illegal gets away.
How many years in prison will Yasger get?
1) 3
2) 2, because they didn’t get to finish the ham.
3) None, because C S N & Y wrote a song about it.
