NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 25) -- A Connecticut woman whose chimpanzee mauled and blinded her friend last year has died, her attorney said Tuesday.
Sandy Herold died Monday night of a ruptured aortic aneurysm, lawyer Robert Golger said. She was 72.
Herold's 200-pound chimpanzee, Travis, went berserk in February 2009 after Herold asked her friend, Charla Nash, to help lure it back into her house in Stamford. The animal ripped off Nash's hands, nose, lips and eyelids before the animal was shot and killed by police.

Good riddance.
The world is better off without people that think they can eat, sleep and live with chimpanzees.
Too bad another woman has paid the price for her stupidity.
“An aortic aneurysm is a general term for any swelling (dilation or aneurysm) of the aorta, usually representing an underlying weakness in the wall of the aorta at that location. While the stretched vessel may occasionally cause discomfort, a greater concern is the risk of rupture, which causes severe pain; massive internal hemorrhage; and, without prompt treatment, results in a quick death.”

Definitely a mental case.
Haha. Gotta love Wikipedia.

What a tragic life she led.
God bless Charla Nash in her struggles to recover and may God grant Mrs.Herold eternal peace.
Should they have left out that fact assuming everyone thought it to be obvious?
I get a kick otu of the local media’s attempts to make us feel sorry for this woman, as if her troubles losing her chimp is anything near what her ex-friend must go through on a daily basis.
>”Too bad another woman has paid the price for her stupidity.”
Not trying to start an argument here, but I have to say, she wasn’t too smart either. I dont know why anybody would think they can put themselves up against a 200 lb. monkey and hope to come out unscathed.
If someone called and asked me to come over and help corral their 200 lb chimp and get him into a cage, the first words out of my mouth would be, “Oh, HELL no!”
I learned a long time ago. You dont go messing around with something thats the top of the food chain, when you aren’t.
What exactly constitues 'prompt' or 'quick'?
Hours, minutes, days? Not exactly language that medical professionals would go by, IMHO.
I felt sorrier for the poor animal that was killed!
Sure, but you and I know about chimps.
I’d imagine this lady was thinking of “Cheetah” from the Tarzan movies, or was just completely unaware of a chimp’s 5x human strength.
Either way, chimpanzees have replaced autonomous self-aware robots on my “Fear List”, right below Zombies ;)
>”Sure, but you and I know about chimps.”
Well, I would hope that common sense would take over whenever anyone would call up and say.....
Hey, can you come over and help me get my 200 pound chimp in a cage?
Hey, can you come over and help me get my 200 pound black bear in a cage?
Hey, can you come over and help me get my 200 pound grizzly in a cage?
Hey, can you come over and help me get my 200 pound octopus in a cage?
Hey, can you come over and help me get my 200 pound sea lice in a cage?
Hey, can you come over and help me get my 200 pound chihuahua in a cage?
Hey, can you come over and help me get my 200 pound chupacabra in a cage?
lol
What a terrible thing to say. I am sure that lady was devastated. She was stupid but it was her friend who was mauled and I have no doubt that she loved her friend.
Amen, Mila. Amen.
You got me there.
But, what if she said, “Would you help me move my monkey?”
“No matter how trustworthy he looks, never give a monkey a gun.”
