Fox: Guard troops to Mexican border to be ordered away from worst smuggling, violence corridors
Fox News Channel | 5/26/10

Posted on 05/26/2010 11:05:00 AM PDT by pabianice

Per Fox (Kelly), National Guard troops to be sent to Mexican border have been ordered not to patrol or interfere with worst, most violent smuggling routes across the border. The main mission will be to sit at desks in an administrative role far from the border. IOW, it's a cynical misuse of the Guard.

Also, the federal government forbids border agents to patrol about 70% of the AZ border because of the potential damage to wild life habitats for owls, mice, etc. The Interior Department places most of the border off-limits to US patrols even as hundreds of thousands of illegals use these areas as a trash dump and toilet.

Nothing to see here, folks...

So why were they sent? As a grand stand from Obama showing how “serious” he is about border enforcement? Might as well send them patrolling without guns, just sling shots. As effective!!!

Typical Obama. A “show” of force. More window dressing from the thin-skinned manchild.

If violence pays, you get more violence.

They mastered this kind of fact 1000s of years ago. only traitors don’t understand it now.

Obama doesn’t want to secure the border because he sees those people as future Obama voters. That is what this is all about, he will put us all at risk just so he can get some votes..arrogant bastard

Disgusting. The freaks in charge want to destroy our country. It isn’t stupidity, it’s malicious design and intent.

I was betting they won’t even get guns.

Wish they could guard those oft used routes.

Good target....er....never mind.

The last time we sent Guard troops to the border, they were administrative types who were supposed to staff the Border Patrol offices, freeing up “real” Border Patrol Officers for field work.

Let's see.

There's ~ 2,000 mi. of border with the enemy.

There allegedly ~ 20,000 Border Patrol agents on the Southern Border. Given a 5 to one ratio of agents on task (not to be confused with Immigration and Customs Agents at the official border crossings), there are 2 agents /mi.

A factor of 10 (one order of magnitude) increase should be able to get the job done.

Of course, this kind of math is WAY beyond the capabilities of Juan or Kyl.

So, how many in politics are getting rich off this drug trade they protect?

One wonders if these ‘not to be guarded’ smuggling routes are major thruways for narcotic trafficking??

Could someone very politically connected have a say in where the National Guard is to patrol in order to protect their drug ‘patron’??

This is understandable. The Guard may hurt someone in the Cartel. We can’t have that, can we?
