GENEVA (AP) -- The international Red Cross said Wednesday it would continue giving first aid training and kits to Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, despite drawing angry e-mails from around the world and criticism from an Afghan official after the practice was publicized.

The International Committee of the Red Cross trained "over 70 members of the armed opposition" in first aid last month, along with more than 100 Afghan police and civilians, including taxi drivers.

Another one bites the dust. Who would have thought all the money sent to the Red Cross would go to help the enemy kill our soldiers? Treason!!!!!!!!! Not a penny more.

My first day in the Army in 1969, the Salvation Army was giving out bags of various toiletries at the processing center. During the next three years, I never saw the Salvation Army ask for a penny for anything they gave out, including food, but I had bad experiences with both the Red Cross and the USO.

I am acquainted well enough with the activities of the Red Cross that I would expect this as normal for them.

Treason. Providing aid and comfort to the enemy in wartime is a violation of our Constitution. How can this international organization operate within our border now?

Wasn’t Red Cross/Red Crescent caught using their emergency vans to shuttle terrorists/insurgents out of zones where they struck?

Yup

When the Red Cross was begging for money during the Katrina disaster, they had a fund where all of the money would go to help the people and area effected

When things slowed down, it turned out that they kept millions for their general fund and DID NOT use it for Katrina as they had promised

Ever since then I have mentioned that when ever anyone says they are giving money to the RC.

That kind of thing is unacceptable just like what this thread describes, giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

A lot of Red Cross promises regarding use of funds are false, by intent, from day one.

In the Navy, I learned to never take a "gift" of anything from the Red Cross, because on payday you would find it was deducted from your pay.

The Salvation Army was always straight up good guys, and good at listening, too.

The Red Cross has a history of putting both feet in their mouths and practicing arrogance on a scale equaled only by the present executive branch of our National Government.

It was many years ago that I permanently stopped any contribution to the Red Cross. I believe that it was after 911, when they told contributors that they didn't care WHAT their contribution was specifically intended for, THEY would decide how and when and where contributions would be distributed.

Seems not much has changed.

I humbly recommend the only charity/help which delivers what is needed when it's needed without the delusional arrogant leadership of the Red Cross.

Oh yes, another factor that affected my decision : Look up where the headquarters for the International Red Cross is, and the champagne and Mercedes lifestyle of their leadership, on your contributions!

That is downright outrageous!

The Salvation Army has always been about the best charity out there that helps people as their main objective.

Personally, and with their collected funds.

Thanks for your service Sailor!
