NRA Supports Harry Reid?
NRA Representative | Richard Smith

Posted on 05/26/2010 5:38:22 PM PDT by TNoldman

I was speaking with the NRA Booth Representative at the May 22/23,2010 Gatlinburg Tennessee Tea Party Convention.

My wife brought up the fact that the NRA was supporting Harry Reid as a 2nd. Amendment advocate. The NRA Rep. said - Hey, we're a single issue organization -thats why.

Harry Reid can't be trusted - I don't trust anything Harry Reid says. The NRA could do better.

The NRA does claim to be an advocate for the 1st Amendment too and named one of its magazines America’s First Freedoms on that basis. Dirty Harry isn’t too clean on that one.

When my membership expired 2 years ago I decided that was IT for me. Charleton Heston is in heaven, and the NRA looks like they are playing politics, which in my mind is synonimous with saying it went to h#%$&!

If Harry Reid was the deciding Senate Vote for the “Diane Feinstein Gun Grabber Act”, Harry Reid would vote for it.

If you think differently, you are deluding yourself. When push comes to shove, the Democrats show their real intentions.

I was about to send in my NRA Lifetime Membership when I found out about their support for Reid. Needless to say, I did not send in the cash. I am contemplating not bothering to even send in my One Year Dues. Gun Owners of America might be the way to go.

good link. and then there is a man who served on the nra’s board for years, grover norquist, lobbyist, agenda setter, policy maker and overall heavy hitter for CAIR....yep, CAIR, the muslim terrorist front group working hard for our destruction right here in America, had a great friend involved/inside with the nra. the nra knew also and they did not care. nice huh?

Any endorement of Harry Reid is fraught with peril. I literally wrote the book on Reid taking bribes (see my tagline and my bio).

If the NRA doesn’t want egg on their face, someone should forward my book to them

It’s the only thing that keeps him in office, if he were openly anti-gun he would be dumped in a new york minute.

I hadn't heard that before, I'll look into it. I wish more people would switch over to other more hard-line gun rights organizations like GOA or JPFO who won't compromise with the enemy.

The NRA doesn't think ahead. They're willing to give away 30% to get a piece of legislation they want passed. Then the next bill rolls around and they're giving away another 30%. Then another. Then another; until we are stuck with the situation we have now. “Shall not be infringed” still has meaning to some organizations.

That’s the final straw for me. I’m done with them after nearly 40 years. Bye bye NRA.

Don’t let it surprise you. The NRA isn’t a 2nd Amendment organization, they are a professional lobbying group. They need the controversy in gun laws to make money... at least that is what they think.

If you want a true pro-gun group, talk to the Heller Foundation or the Bill of Rights Foundation. The guys that along with help from members of Cato, got us a major win in the Heller Case... the case that the NRA tried no fewer than 3 times to derail.

They are in the process of taking more cases to SCOTUS while the NRA is busy trying to get anti gunners like Reid re-elected.

This is why I do not and will not support the NRA. I do not agree with them on many things they do and having fought against them in Richmond, Virginia as they tried to derail things like repeal of one gun a month, the restaurant ban, and the Uniform Machine Gun Act, I will never support them again.

Just dropping out is not enough. Please let the NRA know of your feelings. The NRA can change and I believe it is worth saving.

look into it, yes. do not believe/trust anything you see or read on the ‘net., even from fellow FReepers, do the research, and I do not mean that to sound quaint. I have no prob. with that. it is flat out hard to believe what you will learn about the grover norquist/ nra board member thing. this bastard was a CAIR big timer!!! can you believe that? GOA and JPFO are good plus the Second Amendment Foundation to. thanks Day.

Yep, we did that when they supported Coburn’s Dem opponent in Oklahoma. We joined Gun Owners of America instead.

And this kind of crap is why I sent money to the GOA and the JPFO this year instead of the NRA. Can’t they see Reid was the point man on the anti-gun health care bill, which will require you to disclose guns in the house?

No organization is perfect...I hope like heck Nevada dumps Harry Reid and I wont’ defend the NRA for endorsing him.

There is another way to look at this, however. For the past two years, Dems have had big majorities in the House and Senate. The president is a Dem. So why haven’t we seen a new assault weapons ban? It should be a cake walk for them to pass one and sign it into law.

It’s because they’re scared. They’re scared of the NRA giving every Dem who votes for a new AWB an F rating and killing any chance of re-election. From that standpoint, the NRA has been pretty effective.
