"Exclusive: All 7 Republicans on Senate Judiciary Committee Ask AG Holder to Appoint Special Prosecutor to Look Into Alleged Sestak Job Offer"

In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder today, all seven Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee "urge the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Congressman Joe Sestak's claim that a White House official offered him a job to induce him to exit the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Senator Arlen Specter."

The seven – Sens. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Jon Kyl or Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, John Cornyn of Texas and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma – allege that the offer would appear to violate federal criminal laws, including 18 U.S.C. 600, which prohibits promising a government position “as consideration, favor, or reward for any political activity” or “in connection with any primary election or political convention or caucus held to select candidates for any political office.”

If the pubbies stick to thier guns, this could be very serious. At least one of them needs to approve the Kagan nomination for it to get to the floor of the full Senate. For that reason, if they stick to thier guns, they could force appointment of a special prosecutor.

Yes, but things can still happen so long as the story is in the media. Even LSM outlets are covering this. It wasn’t the Watergate burglary that toppled Nixon, it was the coverup.

7 Republicans Ask AG Holder to Appoint Special Prosecutor WRT the WH Sestak Job Offer.

About as much chance as that happening as Michele Ohaha holding a watermelon-eating contest on the WH lawn.

Someone will have to read the request to "Rif" (Reading Is Fundamental) Holder before he can understand it.

What a dunce.

This sounds like the same thing of asking a criminal to investigate his own crime.

You mean like when LBJ and J Edgar Hoover killed JFK, they get to confiscate all the evidence and then forge and lie as necessary to get the "right" answer?

How come we haven't heard from Arlen Sphincter about any of this?

Holder ignores subpeonas on various other issues of illegality in the administration. Why do they think he would listen now?

The Republicans haven’t quite gained the understanding that a coup has taken place and they are just allowed to keep their offices to maintain the appearance of the Republic we once were.

Scottish law prevents him from making any comments.

No, because that never happened.

Am I the only one who thinks this law is stupid? Don’t politicians do this every day? In fact, isn’t it, like 99% of how people get hired to meaningful positions?

Where are the other 34? In the fetal position cowering in a corner, simultaneously wetting themselves and sucking their thumbs?

No special prosecutor. All they ever do is take things behind closed doors for years and years. Special prosecutors hide the truth rather than reveal it. Let the Congress investigate this matter. Bring it all out in the open as soon as possible.

There is a world of difference between political patronage and bribery to affect the outcome of a political election, hence the felony status of the crime.
