The House has voted to repeal the 1993 law known as "don't ask, don't tell" and allow gays to serve openly in the military.
The House vote Thursday came several hours after the Senate Armed Services Committee took the same course and approved a measure repealing the policy that prohibits service by gays who openly acknowledge their sexual orientation.
The committee voted 16-12 to repeal the 1993 law known as "don't ask, don't tell." Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, was the only Republican to vote in favor of repeal while Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., was the only Democrat to vote against the initiative that was attached to a $760 billion defense spending bill.
The House was a victory for President Barack Obama, who has pushed for a change in military policy, and for gay rights group who have made an end to "don't ask, don't tell" their top legislative priority.
Republicans voted overwhelmingly against lifting the ban, saying Congress should wait until the Pentagon completes a review of the impact of a repeal on military life and readiness.

More appropriate title:
House Pukes Vote....
It’s the HOUSE COMMITTEE, not the House. The committee is stacked with marxists. I doubt this passes the House.
26 Dems against, 5 GOP(RINO) for.
So does this go to the House now for a full vote? Peter King said today he didn’t think it would pass because some Dems are facing tough elections.
Sodomites 1; Morality 0
The Hill reporting passed the house. 234-194.
Thanks, that’s what I thought.
What happened to Ike Skelton? Thought he was against this?
How ‘fethtive’ and ‘colorfuuuuuuuul’. I hear butt clinching as I type this. Morale is going to plummet.
Oh crap
I was wrong
Ugh!
It’s important don’t ya know? We’re fighting 2 wars!
This should be a top priority /s
Here it comes...
Clinton made the mistake of having hearings. Premier Hussein couldn’t care less, and as soon as there is a reconciliation bill, Nazi and Harry will break the sound barrier getting it to Premier Hussein to sign.
Just like that.
I am wondering the same. Did he vote for it?
“Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, was the only Republican to vote in favor of repeal ...”
I’ll never understand how we let people like her get away with claiming to be a Republican.
The “wars” are a joke now. You have a Saudi puppet in there. His job is to get as many good Americans in the field killed and the US military humiliated. It is all an expensive joke. He wants are best and bravest over there not here.
I concur, this is very sad. We will pay for this for years to come as we will the rest of this Presidents agenda.
