Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-La.) became emotional during a hearing Thursday on the BP oil spill, forcing him to cut off remarks before the panel.
The congressman shed a tear, became choked up and eventually stopped his remarks. He left the committee room after he could not continue. Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) comforted Melancon before he departed the room.

The man has emotional problems that are quite secretive. Normal people don’t well up with tears in such a way. His mother forgot to tell him to not embarrass himself by being a dolt.

I don’t think the guy was faking at all. He might be a ‘Rat by label, but it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t feel for what his fellow citizens are going through right now.
Melancon is no Slick Willie, IMHO.

This happened on the Rats watch and it was the Rats that gave BP the regulatory exemptions so tearing up now is not going to exonerate where the blame lies.

Either he’s a leftist which is synonymous with “mental case”, he is just playing to the left base which is comprised of mental cases or both.

im in agreement with you - I can not imagine what feelings I would have if my State was fouled and polluted, resources ruined, economies destroyed.
Culture transcends party lines - you hate to see it lost
That said - I can only imagine how conflicted he must be in watching his leaders slow response as O plays the crisis politically

It's all political. This Rat Clown could care less about Louisiana or it's citizens because all he cares about is staying in power.
If the Rats are truly offended at this administration's response then first they'll stop blaming Bush and then they'll start talking about impeaching the Idiot-In-Chief.

I dont think the guy was faking at all.Neither do I. He's a native Louisianan and his district runs along the waterfront from about mid-state to Mississippi, the very area facing economic collapse from this mess.

It is all about power, posturing and freeloading disaster aid by demrats.Katrina and BP showed us no leadership in elected officials.Effective leadership came from the military in both cases.Bobby Jindal is an exception but zero swats him down like a fly.I would have said screw you feds this is my state and I work for my people who are suffering.
