Labor officials suggest they may spend an additional $5 million on the runoff.

They should put that money into the pension funds instead of political races.

“This is an election like no other,” says Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, a union-backed candidate who has forced Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln into a June 8 runoff. “The game is changing.”

He should know.

Halter defied Arkansas’ wait-your-turn tradition and jumped into the primary against Lincoln, a 16-year veteran of Congress who is backed by President Barack Obama, Clinton and much of the state's political establishment. That left Halter with one ally inside the Democratic family (and, even then, from outside Arkansas): organized labor.

Looking to punish Lincoln for her less-than-perfect labor record - and put other moderate Democrats on notice - unions pumped a staggering $5 million into a campaign against her.”

Fournier is a kook. He and the rest of the LameStream Media are trying to blunt the effect the Tea Party is having.

They will fail.

The author should figure out that Halter's union support isn't seen as a good thing here.

If there ever was a state where its citizens resented outsiders trying to influence them, this is it or at least very close to it.

Good post! Very interesting article.

It captures the unrest on BOTH sides.

And yes, I think this does have a lot to do with Obama, who sold himself as a pig in a poke to the American people. Bush may have disappointed people, but at least he was earnest. Now we are looking at the worst domestic circumstances in maybe a generation, maybe two, and we find out we are being led by a nincompoop and a court full of jesters.

BE AFRAID ALL YOU POLS - BE VERY AFRAID!
