A Gulf Coast official accused BP of shipping workers into Grand Isle, Louisiana, for President Obama's visit to the oil-stricken area Friday and sending them away once the president left the region.
Early Friday morning, "a number of buses brought in approximately 300 to 400 workers that had been recruited all week," Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts told CNN's "Situation Room."
Roberts said the workers were offered $12 an hour to come out to the scene at Grand Isle and work.
But, when Obama departed, so did the workers, he said.
BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles downplayed the claim Friday evening, saying it is not unusual to see people wrapping up work in the afternoon.

I wonder what Mr. Carville is going to say about this charade...
BP is easy to deal with we just do not buy anything from them.
This is what UNIONS do!!! Stupid people have to be BUSSED.
I’m thinking James Carville was the ‘recruiter’.
I’m not so sure, Freddd. I had the misfortune of spending the last few days in the hospital where the only news channel available to me was CNN. On this channel, I saw James and Mary go down to the marshes with Bobby Jindal, and let me tell you, James came back PISSED OFF AT OBAMA.
I mean this guy was livid. James is a Louisianian, and he knows what this is going to mean to those folks who live down there and make their living off of those waters.
I’ll tell you that I normally hate James Carville, but I think even he now realizes how serious this is, and how badly his boy has handled this situation. He personally asked Obama to NOT go to Grand Isle, but to go to the wetlands and marshes where the damage is just visibly shocking, and Obama did the exact opposite.
Frankly, I think that even the staunchest dems, including Mr. Carville, are now having a very hard time stomaching this nauseating boy president.
