FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti expressed his anger and ordered an investigation Friday into the treatment a Miami Dolphins player received at the county jail; he alleges he received special treatment.

Miami Dolphin Phillip Merling practiced on Friday after being released from the jail a day earlier. BSO Sheriff Lamberti said Merling received special treatment by being released through a side door at the jail to avoid reporters, and he was given a ride home by a BSO employee.

Merling is the fourth Dolphin arrested in recent months. Head coach Tony Sparano called the arrest frustrating

N.F.L. = National Felon League.

In the 'good old days' these mutts wouldn't get a first look by NFL teams. NO MATTER THEIR SKILLS.

In Ditka's 2nd year as Coach of Da Bears he released a Wide Receiver - who already made the team - after the fourth pre-season game. Reason, the kid tested positive for pot after a pee test.

Now that kid would get a $50 Fine, a nasty letter from the Commissioner and he'd START the 1st game of the season.

Oh, and the kid was White.
(yep a White WR, that's how long ago it was)

I remember the “old” days in Pittsburgh when art Rooney would NOT tolerate bums and thugs playing on his football team.

The Sheriff is obviously not seeking a seat in the owner’s box at Dolphin games.
