I remember Joe when he was an op-ed columnist with the
Philadelphia Inquirer in the late Sixties, along with Rose de Wolf. After the assassinations of Dr. King and Bobby Kennedy, he wrote an op-ed denouncing America as a "vision of hell".
The paper forced him out shortly after that.
