“Militants Aboard Flotilla Open Fire on IDF Soldiers”
SNIPPET: “The IDF reports that the crew of the Gaza-bound flotilla lay in wait for the IDF to board their vessel and then attacked IDF soldiers, opening fire on them. One crew member reportedly snatched a gun from an IDF soldier and then opened fire on the troops. Another soldier was stabbed in the stomach with a sharp object. The soldier is in moderate condition and was transferred for medical treatment by helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Doctors there determined he would require surgery. Three other soldiers were also wounded and were transferred to Tel Hashomer hospital.
According to the IDF spokesperson, the crew of the flotilla were not peaceful humanitarians, but rather militants who were preparing for provocation and violence, and were planning to stage a “lynch” of the Israeli soldiers.”

IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said at a press conference following the deadly takeover of a Gaza aid flotilla: “There is no connection between what occurred on the ship and peace efforts and humanitarian aid. Our forces were met with extreme violence from cold weapons, and in once instance, from firearms that were snatched from our fighters.”
He added, “The soldiers acted appropriately. Some of them were injured from gunshots and others from stabbings and blows.” He said. (Ynet)

Completely agree. Violence, deaths, and intense biased media coverage was the plan from the beginning. Israel is automatically guilty in every encounter. It doesn't matter what the facts are. Given that Israel has been determined to be the devil, I am always amazed at the the restraint shown in every clash.
I think a better approach would have been to knock out propellers and or rudders and to tow the piece of junk to Ashod for inspection. Telling the 800? on board that no relief supplies would come off the boat until everyone got off.
The negative on this is the troublemakers leaving explosives and booby traps on the ship
I say kill the terrorist bastards and then award them the ‘Rachel Corrie Terminal Stupidity Award’.
Since the whole point of this ‘relief tour’ was to make Israel look bad, it seems unlikely that they had booby traps on the ship. Seems like a poorly planned operation by the IDF, unfortunately.

American activist, writer and former US diplomat Ann Wright was on the boat and wrote of her experience here, but was transferred, before the attack, to a smaller boat.
For those who don't know, Ann Wright is a retired State Department career diplomat and retired reserves Army Colonel who works with Code Pink to support terrorists against the U.S., Israel and the West.

As in Lebanon, the liberal media coverage will be overtly pro-leftist, anti-Israel. Now, Netanyahu thankfully has cancelled his trip to Washington, where zero would not doubt privately or possibly publicly berate and embarrass him and Israel.
The goal of the liberal media and the Leftists is to impose a “peace” settlement on Israel and to get Israel to give up its nukes. This incident will become a cause celebre for the Leftists. The UN is already planning investigations.
By now, Netanyahu must realize that serious consideration of forced implementation of either or both options means that now the West is an existential threat to Israel. The time may be near when Netanyahu will have to publicly stand up to Europe and the US. It seems that the consequences of being a “pariah” state are much preferred to the consequences of being an acquiescent state.
