Guy is too good looking to be celibate anyway. What was he thinking to become a priest?

I can’t say I see anything wrong with him switching to a practice that condones what he is trying to do. I get sick of people saying and trying to work to change the Catholic rule on priests being celibate when there are other flavors of Christianity which have no problems with married clergy.

I am so ashamed of parts of my church. Obviously, this is the only part of that is PR being promoted, of course.

There really are good churches of this faith that don’t do this.

It’s a discipline and it should be changed. A lot of good guys are kept out of the consecreated life because of it and it has allowed cover for a lot of perverts.

Most of the early popes had wives and families of their own. If married clergy was good enough then it should be good enough now.

It's a discipline that exists for good reasons that go straight back to apostolic times.

Most of the early popes had wives and families of their own.

Documentation?

“At least he ain’t gay.”

That makes him a distinct minority in the Episcopal Church.

Well, Peter had a wife... at least he had a mother-in-law.

It’s an archaic rule, based on some mumbo jumbo about monks, has kept many good men out of the priesthood and attracted many homosexual men to it.

After all, no one will ask why you don’t have a wife and kiddies if you’re a Catholic priest.

It’s a discipline and it should be changed.

21 of the 22 Churches sui juris which comprise the Catholic Church ordain, as a norm, married men. Cutie had 21 other Churches to choose from but no he forced himself to seek ordination in the Latin Rite. If Cutie had trouble remaining faithful to God what makes you think he'll remain faithful to the woman he's committing adultery with?

A lot of good guys are kept out of the consecreated(sic) life because of it and it has allowed cover for a lot of perverts.

What's your explanation for these perverts since you can't use the "blame it on celibacy" crutch?

Most of the early popes had wives and families of their own. If married clergy was good enough then it should be good enough now.

No doubt you'll have no problem quantifying your allegation, so please do.

Christ Himself was celibate. So because some of the successors of Peter fell far short of the example set by Christ, the Church should acquiesce to moral relativism. Using your fecal logic the Church should also exorcise the Sixth Commandment from the Decalogue because a lot of men think with the wrong head.

To paraphrase Bull Meechum: God, why do you put so many idiots in this world?

It’s an archaic rule,

Based on what, your poor knowledge of Scripture and the history of the discipline?

based on some mumbo jumbo about monks

The Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel of Luke, St. Paul's First Epistle to the Corinthians, the celibacy of Moses and Jeremiah are all "mumbo jumbo"? You better pray that ignorance is a mitigating factor in your particular judgment.

I'll bet you think the Ten Commandments should be renamed to the Ten Suggestions.

Well, Peter had a wife... at least he had a mother-in-law.

If Peter's wife had been alive at the time of the Gospel account, why is it that no one got waited on till the MIL was healed?
