Dear Mr. President:
During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.
While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as "Medicaid"! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.
And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman's health care? I contend that our nation's "health care crisis" is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. Rather, it is the result of a "crisis of culture", a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me".
Once you fix this "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.
Respectfully,
STARNER JONES, MD
Oh, come now! We wouldn’t want to deprive her of all those goodies, would we?
All your money are belong to us.
Great letter.
Reminds me of the photo of the homeless guy using his cell phone camera to take a picture of Michelle Obama while she cooks food and the homeless People’s kitchen. Doesn’t that just tell you everything you need to know? Homeless people with cell phone cameras — ain’t America great?
I assume the doctor then did a double tonsillectomy on the man.
It is part of the "spread the wealth" policy that began in 2009.
My wife was a pediatric nurse in a state-run clinic, and used to tell me story after story of medicaid families on assistance for 4 generations that would talk out loud about how they were going to their mountain cabin for the weekend, right after they bought a couple kegs of beer to take with them! We couldn’t afford the beer, let alone a cabin—and these mooches were—and still are—leeching off the rest of us!
Did you check out the asinine response to that letter in your snopes link? John Semmens would be hard put to parody that.

The difference between conservative and a liberal policies? Conservative policies produce trickle down wealth. Liberal policies produce trickle up poverty.
“Once you fix this “culture crisis”
Zero is the culture crisis, the economic crsis, the foriegn relations crisis, the....

the doctor is a racist /s
Good for that doctor!!!!!! I hope more of them will stand up!
Thanks for the reply.
There is a gigantic brand-new hospital in South Central Los Angeles called Martin Luther King hospital. it is brand-new, ultramodern, and cost $800 million to make.
It stands in the today. All the corridors and all the rooms are empty of Doctors, nurses, and patients.
Is everyone or anyone wonder why this incredibly beautiful brand-new hospital stands empty? You can search on the Internet all you want and you won’t find the answer. But if you think about it I bet you can guess the answer.
all very sad. Very sad for the people who live in that area very sad for all the poor bastards who paid $800 million to build the empty hospital.
Because they don't validate parking?
That response pretty much says it all, doesn't it? How is it that some people think they should be protected from all their bad decisions? Or that we're somehow heartless in wanting them to take responsibility for themselves? Incredible!
