California voters favor the legalization of marijuana for personal use 49 percent to 41 percent, according to a LA Times/USC poll. The measure will appear on the November ballot.
However, one-third of backers say they favor it only “somewhat.”
A poll last month by the Public Policy Institute of California found the measure in a statistical dead heat, 49 percent to 48 percent.

Won’t matter what they legalize, The fed’s and dea will come in and close down shops anyway (while the Sheriff’s stand idly by not knowing one iota of their powers). CA has no teeth because its too much on the gov’t teet.
Drugs have never improved a society or individual.
On a side note: the “legalize, regulate and tax” movement is a bit of an enigma. On one hand people contend that they have a right to do drugs and what they put in their body is their business. I am not taking a position on that.
On the other hand, they are begging for the the regulation and taxation of that right. I have a big problem with any rights being regulated and taxed.

Has our sterling Imperial Federal government performed any such raids in CA? They dont control the borders so why control mind rotting drugs?
I don’t think their brains could be damaged any more than they are, so why not?
I agree! Let's ban ALL drugs, starting with aspirin.
Why would any company want to open a facility in a high tax state where your employees are either illegal or high? Yeah this is going to be great for the California economy.

I’m not in favor of governmental bans on much of anything. I just don’t favor the use of narcotics or think it has any redeaming value for most people.
You have touched on something that is also very true, many prescription and non-prescription drugs are very harmful. People really can do a lot of damage by over using them.

Do you think CA should have the prerogative to carry out such a policy under the Tenth Amendment? Or, do you think fedgov should try to shut it down under authority of the Commerce Clause?
I say why not make it legal. People shouldn’t have their lives ruined or be thrown in jail because of marijuana.
It would save taxpayers a boat load of money if the states and Feds didn’t tie up so many resources chasing this will-o-the-wisp. And it would save our freedoms if we couldn’t be busted for every little thing big daddy government doesn’t approve of.
As far as I’m concerned marijuana is in the same class as cigarettes and booze.
