It is "now a matter of time" before South Korea takes the sinking of its warship near the border with North Korea to the U.N. Security Council, a Seoul diplomat said Wednesday as he left for Russia to seek its cooperation in punishing Pyongyang.
Wi Sung-lac, South Korea's envoy on six-nation talks on North Korea's nuclear programs, said, however, that his government has yet to fix a date for formally filing its case with the U.N.
The timing is "flexible and too uncertain to be predicted," he said.
Wi's comments are seen as a reaffirmation of President Lee Myung-bak's pledge to punish North Korea through international cooperation for the March 26 sinking that killed 46 crew members. The Cheonan, a 1,200-ton patrol ship, tore in two and sank in the Yellow Sea. A team of international investigators said a North Korean submarine attacked it with a torpedo.
North Korea denies its role in the sinking and threatens an "all-out" war if it is sanctioned for it. China, a veto-wielding member of the Security Council, has yet to acknowledge the results of the multinational probe, while Russia, another such member, is working with South Korea to verify them

It is just a matter of time until the UN rolls over.
That was my reaction. The envoy is wasting his time going to the UN.
If it hasn’t happened yet, it ain’t gunna happen.
The “punishment” will just be a symbolic statement, non-binding, no sanctions.
