Next Takeover Target: The News Media (FTC paper)
FTC via moonbattery.com ^ | June 1st | Van Helsing

Posted on 06/02/2010 2:57:06 AM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

The Marxist in the White House has already taken big steps toward nationalizing the banking, insurance, automobile, and healthcare industries. Federal foot-dragging over protecting the coast from the Gulf oil spill could be motivated by a desire to have as many oil-coated pelicans as possible on the evening news as a prelude to nationalization of the energy sector. What else would be at the top of a communist's list of takeovers if not the very media that installed him in power? Mark Tapscott reports on the Federal Trade Commission's working paper on "reinventing journalism," an initiative intended to

transform the news industry from an information product collected by private individuals and entrepreneurs as a service to private buyers, to a government-regulated public utility providing a "public good," as defined and regulated by government.

Very, very bad, but we’re not going to let it happen.

“transform the news industry from an information product collected by private individuals and entrepreneurs as a service to private buyers, to a government-regulated public utility providing a “public good,” as defined and regulated by government.”

We can call it the Ministry of Truth and Enlightenment. And then erect giant statues of Julius Streicher at the entrance to the NYT building and print Der Stürmer on the masthead.

Great idea.

From the article: Imagine trying to stay informed if there were no source of news other than PBS and NPR.

Been there. The nightly new networks and the large print media was dominated by the left. Then came Rush Limbaugh and later the internet.

Yes-I remember when it was only the MSM.

My late uncle, who worked at the Pentagon his whole life, was the one who told me to start listening to Rush to find out what’s REALLY going on. That was 1989...

BHO doesn’t like that one out of a million stories are critical of him.

I’m at a loss for words.

When I was a news reporter we got into lots of scrapes and arguments over (wait for it ...) the Open Door or Sunshine laws, allowing public access to most all government meetings but for specific exceptions.

Since not all the public cared to attend various government meetings, we stood in for them. Glad to do it. If necessary we challenged and-or confronted the powers that be.

We can’t have a republic without a free press. *shivers*

All of this is going to blow back so hard on the commies come November. That said, what can FR do to help the downfall of the MSM? They really must go bankrupt and then new, balanced, honest, and accurate sources take their places. Ideas anyone? If we don’t somehow fix this, we will have another obama down the road.
