so let us set the record straight. Guns are NOT illegal in Britain. The police here have not stated what weapon was used in this affair, but several witnesses have said that they saw the guy with a shotgun. There are, as of the last count in 2009, 1,336,000 shotguns LEGALLY held by over 500, 000 britons registered to hold them.
Just remember when you start spouting on this, twelve people are DEAD. Twenty-five others have been hospitalised. I do not consider it a time for flippancy. Vanders (who lives in West Cumbria)
That’s going to change after this. Adios shotguns.
And how many of the victims stood any chance of defending themselves, having been disarmed years ago?
All of the U.K. is a victim disarmament zone, while the thugs are free to do as they like!
Even when the yobs break into a home, the homeowner must not defend themselves or they will be the one prosecuted.
Recall what happened to the farmer, Tony Martin, in his own home.
The U.K. has gone liberal NUTS, so sad, I will never visit again.
Mhmmm. That must be why the assailant was shot dead by the dozens of people who were in lawful possession of concealed handguns, right? Or, did the old boy just take his own life?
Spare me your British sanctimony. This incident, just like the similar incidents in America, was only "successful" because it transpired in a "gun free zone".
About a year ago, a man tried to shoot up a Jewish museum in DC. What stopped him? An armed security guard. If you shooter had been confronted by someone who was armed themselves, perhaps no one would have died, to say nothing of the 12 who sadly have.
May the LORD bless all those involved, both directly and indirectly, by this tragedy. We may have our differences when it comes to guns, but we are united in our expression of condolences to those who have been affected by this horrendous act.
So, in the UK (and elsewhere) when criminals and the insane use a gun it is the legal and sane that are forced to disarm and become even more sheep-like. Makes no sense to disarm in the face of rising crime and violence in the UK.
Regarding number of dead and wounded, terrible for sure, but how many would now be alive and uninjured if there were people on the street legally carrying a firearm? John Lott certainly documented the fact that more people in the US are alive and uninjured because of our legal right to carry resulted in many more crimes being stopped. But wait, the UK is now trying to ban knifes, too. Are cricket bats next?
