Most definitely.
I can't imagine any other way a person could engage in the kind of wholesale slaughter of babies the way he did without that kind of spiritual empowering.
And even if he didn't start out that way, he had to end up that way. Giving Satan an opening like that would guaranteed a complete takeover eventually.
