UN orders Israel to lift Gaza blockade

UN chief Ban Ki-moon has demanded that Israel lift its blockade of the Gaza Strip immediately in the wake of a deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.
Speaking on his return from visits to Brazil, Malawi and Uganda, Ban told reporters on Wednesday that the underlying problem behind Monday's tragedy was the long-running, crippling Israeli siege of Gaza which he described as "counter-productive, unsustainable and wrong."

It’s been decades since the UN served any useful purpose.
Israelis live every day of their lives subject to real live terror attacks, but let someone like John Bolton mention metaphorically that a few floors of the NYC UN building could be eliminated, and all hell breaks use.

So an “aid” boat tries to run a legal blockade, gets boarded, starts beating the IDF boarders, gets shot ... and the problem is the blockade?
Good grief. Even if it was just an aid boat — you can’t just run a blockade and expect the IDF to wave at you as you go by. There are procedures to follow. Other boats have followed them with no problem. This group decides to run a blockade and gets all pissy when there is a fight.
