Rush Limbaugh: The Movie? (Hollywood hit piece)
Deadline ^ | MIKE FLEMING

Posted on 06/03/2010 1:01:09 PM PDT by OldDeckHand

He's the country's top-rated talk radio host, beacon of conservatives, a lightning rod for controversy. Is Rush Limbaugh movie material?

Writer/producer James Sclafani thinks so, and has written a feature film about Limbaugh's life that is in the process of being packaged and shopped for financing. Sclafani, who recently sold his script Counter Kid to Bill Murray's Devoted Pictures, optioned The Rush Limbaugh Story: Talent on Loan from God, an unauthorized biography by longtime Gotham-based journalist Paul Colford, who currently heads media relations for the AP. The book served as the basis for the script.

Sclafani said the script he's written is a close cousin to the Oliver Stone-directed George W. Bush feature W, in that he tries to get beneath the surface politics and controversies and down to the ambition and demons that drove Limbaugh's success. The film will include contradictions that have gone against his radio diatribes, from the dubious 4-F draft status during Vietnam (unearthed in Colford's book) to a get-tough stance against drug abusers that was contradicted by the revelation that he himself was addicted to prescription painkillers and got them illegally.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before Hollywood brought the long knives out for Limbaugh. Yet another movie that will costs millions to make, but only generate dozens at the box office.

If Chavetz optioned this without content control, he’s a fool.

It’s leading into an election year, time to attack the messengers on talk radio again.

The Pravda Media can then hype these smears with “reviews” of the film and “interviews” with the cast and producers.

And then Netflix et al can push it as a highlighted release.

Disney Hyperion has paid Meghan McCain to write a Republican bashing book for 2012 too.

This film will probably suck but Tokyo Rose? Really? Do you think people who make films like this are guilty of treason (a capital offense)?

I’m sure it will make just as much money as a Michael Moore film or a Reagan hit piece starring Mrs. James Brolin Streisand.

The Oliver Stone-directed George W. Bush feature W sunk like a stone. This one will as well.

Explcitly political films of *any* kind don’t draw big crowds. People get enough of that on 24 hour news channels to pay for it.

Liberals,

WHAT are you trying to do with this movie? Are you going to CONVINCE your fellow liberals that Rush is a Nazi-like half-wit who “fell” into decades of popularity by tricks and subterfuge?

Wow, what an accomplishment that will be!!! Your liberal Hollywood audience is DIFFICULT TO FOOL!! Oh, wait a sec, they gave the biggest Academy Award to Al Gore’s fraud film.

You will not be attracting or convincing anyone else of anything negative about Rush Limbaugh, so why spend money on this little celluloid masturbation project?

Rush is a human being and his audience accepts that all human beings are flawed. We don’t want or need to see any of Rush’s weaker moments, and we already know his, and all, talent is on loan from G-d. The only thing not on loan from G-d is his hard work preparing his shows, knowing the audience and what they want from our country, getting the right people around him, choosing his sponsors, and applying his lifetime broadcasting skills.

So go ahead, don’t spend your money saving Al’s polar bears. Spend it showing how women all dumped Rush, and how he didn’t go to Viet Nam because of a cyst on his butt, and how he was addicted to pills. Oh, and do not forget to mock his weight. None of your attempt to shame a public figure makes Rush look pathetic, but ironically, that same attempt makes you look pathetic instead.

We really like him, warts, cysts, and all. He provides the best counterpoint to all the liberal media in America. And the Hollywood libs who will buy your movie ALREADY hate Rush. So spend your money. Have a great time.

Rush lives in their exploding heads rent-free.

These exploding heads: "herds of independent group minds," a Big Chief Crazy Quilt of flocking idiots, journalistic hack animals, buffaloed herds, moveable riots, mass rally crying jags, giant snit-ins and other demonstrations of affect, schools of economic fish stories, snivel rights agitators, cairing allahgators, heards of poor listeners, whordes of sex-workers, feline prides of lyin' shemales, educational kennels of K - 9 kosbags, pods of peaheaded publications, plagues of lawyering locusts, boring nests of teeming tenuremites, coops of chicks who look more like dudes, and gaggles of gaydom and boring Goredom spanning the gamut from goofy weathermen to those who don't know whether they're men.

So Obama, in order to be a viable Democrat, had to tap into one of the prominent streams of anger, envy, bitterness, and divisiveness that define and animate the left. Oddly, his whole appeal was based on the misperception that he was beyond this sort of destructive divisiveness, but this is about as realistic as an Arab leader claiming to be "beyond the differences between Muslim and Jew," without which they could not be an Arab leader. For what does the Arab political world have to recommend itself except for an officially sanctioned target for their overflowing rage, envy, sexual insecurity, and low self-esteem? In other words, all the Arab leader has to offer his people is death to Israel.

Similarly, what does the Democrat leader have to offer his various tribes except for [Rush,] Bush, or Cheney, or Rove, or Halliburton, or the Wealthy, or scary Christians, or Creationists, or White Racists, or misogynists, or "homophobes," or the End of the World?

What's left of the Left if you remove these "containers" of projected rage and fear? Only the free-floating rage and fear.

Ok, fine, they want to make a movie about Rush Limbaughs life, we should make a movie about that fat fraud Michael Moore and his life, and get the truth out about the millionaire who runs around in a ball cap and says he is for the “little guy”.

Who do Freepers think would be a good choice for the title role? Perhaps Philip Seymour Hoffman?
