GOP line in Maine drinks the tea, but what's next?(Barfatorium Alert)

AUGUSTA, Maine — A tea party tempest is losing steam in Maine, a state that prides itself on its independence and moderation.

With inspiration from tea partiers, Republicans there adopted a party platform last month that raised eyebrows nationally, with planks calling for the elimination of the Department of Education, a reference to global warming as a "myth" and a declaration that health care "is not a right. It is a service."

But even Republican candidates for governor have backed away from the platform, which replaced a pro-forma document up for+ adoption at the state party convention.

If that platform goes down, Maine has drunk the Kool-aid.

Maine has drunk the Kool-aid.

I've heard that before from other parties.

Sad. It just might be that Maine will be the one state I'll never see -- for all it has some good FReepers and former FReepers living there.

The MSM has no idea of how many people see those planks as proven fact, not 'eyebrow raisers'. Only among the ascendant liberal mindset do they raise eyebrows.

Most Americans are global warming skeptics. Those who bother reading the Constitution find no Right to health care. And of course the DoE is an UnConstitutional totalitarian power grab, as well as an endless money sink hole that indoctrinates America's youth in all things liberal and perverse.

Glenn Adams and RINOs Peter Mills, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins can all kiss my red, white and blue butt!

Oh, I wouldn't let politics affect a vacation. Maine is probably the most beautiful ocean state there is.

Search for some photos of the coast of Maine.

Then there's the lobster.

I live near Seattle. *\;-) It's beautiful here between ocean, rain forests, huge cedar woods (where I live), mountains and the dramatic post-flood regions east of the mountains. But a long, long way to Maine. And HEAVILY infected with deep-rooted liberals.

Maine is a lost cause. They think that Snowe and Collins are Republicans.

Then there's the lobster.

Speaking of Maine and lobster - that's really 'lobstah' = I had lobstah, steamers, mussels and corn on the cob - all cooked in a decades old brick 'oven' = for lunch today - and ate it all out on a wharf on the bay, in the sun, islands on the horizon...in mid-coast Maine.

For less that $14.00.

You need to get out of and above Portland if you want to see Maine. We keep most of the flatlanders down there. (the libs are afraid of the country anyway. They're herd animals. And thank the good Lord for that. Don't want 'em stinking up the fresh country air.)

In Maine, a Republican is a Democrat, and a Democrat is an insane communist.

Just another beautiful Northern state that has become progressive and is slowing progress for the nation. Their “independence” is a joke. They desperately want to be politically correct. What independence?

Maine (pop. 1.3 million) is a former conservative Republican state, long since overrun by big city liberals.

Maine is a shining example to hold up to folks who may wonder what would happen to your state were it to be run by liberals.

Yes, it is happening to Florida as more and more northerners who can’t afford their taxes move into the state and bring the same politics that created the high taxes they left! The definition of insanity: doing more of the same but expecting different results.
