President Obamas most senior counterterrorism adviser last week defended Islamist terrorists by stating that jihad or holy war is a legitimate tenet of Islam and thus something the administration does not oppose. The remarks were criticized by counterterrorism specialists who say it represents a failure to understand the nature of the terrorist threat facing the United States and by not understanding the threat it means that the U.S. government is unlikely to be effective in countering it.
John Brennan said in a speech on May 26, in outlining the Obama administrations new national security strategy, that the president's strategy is absolutely clear about the threat we face.
Our enemy is not terrorism because terrorism is but a tactic, Brennan said. Our enemy is not terror because terror is a state of mind and, as Americans, we refuse to live in fear. Nor do we describe our enemy as jihadists or Islamists because jihad is holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam meaning to purify oneself of one's community.
The notion of offensive speech in identifying Islamist terrorists, however, was dismissed by the U.S. Central Command in a 2008 report obtained by The Washington Times that said the idea is a myth.
The report [http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/198.pdf], said the U.S. government notion that identifying terrorists as Islamist will demonize Islam is false. While there is concern that we not label all Muslims as Islamist terrorists, it is proper to address certain aspects of violence perpetrated by Muslims as uniquely Islamic, the report said. The fact is our enemies cite the sources of Islam as the foundation of their global jihad. We are left with the responsibility of portraying our enemies in an honest and accurate fashion.

This is perhaps the worst thing about Obama , the people he has put into positions around him .
That Brennan was actually a George W. Bush pick as well does not speak well of Bush . George Tenet ??? sheesh....
Where do they get these people anyway? It seems like ever total boob and creep gravitates to government these days !
It should be a requirement that anyone that wishes to hold
public elected office must have previously been a combat serving U.S. Armed Forces member .
In Obamaworld, our friends are our enemies, and our enemies are our friends.
I wonder if Brennan has sold his soul for this administration in order to keep his job, or if he really believes this krap.
“...jihad is holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam meaning to purify oneself of one’s community.
Exactly. But jihad’s holy struggle to purify one’s community is really defined as a holy struggle to purify the world of infidels by imposing sharia law on the world.
Code for ethnic cleansing and religious bigotry.
Is he stating that it is O.K. to blow up Americans????????
To "purify" one's community...Now why does that ring a bell? Does he know what he's saying? Or is he a complete historical ignoramus?
The more Brennan runs his mouth, the more that Islamic scholars, etc. realize how much of a pathetic and idiotic fool he is.....
Brennan has done the impossible: made Obama and his administration even more disgraceful and dangerous.
“This is perhaps the worst thing about Obama , the people he has put into positions around him .”
Unless it’s the people who voted for him.
This is what I don't understand about the lib women in general and Michelle in particular.
Islam requires the complete submission of women. I fear for my daughter and any daughters she may have that their lives will be absolutely miserable!! Can't Michelle see what the future is for her little princesses? Does she think that Islam will allow American women to continue to practice their western culture?
Iran is the model, not the exception.
