We visited Pearl Harbor and several other spots in Hawaii a couple months ago. I noticed a large number of street people milling around the canal and other locations. Thew Big Island also seems to have a large share of non-working people just hanging around all day.

The HI economy is really in bad shape. Tourism is down and that seems to be the main driver of the fortunes of HI. Lots of Meth heads on the islands also.. Meth heads make great Democrats if they can remember to vote.
