Mayor Daley is wounding gun control advocacy
Washington Examiner ^ | June 7, 2010 | Gregory Kane

America's gun control proponents might want to consider shooting (pun intended) this memo to Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.

"Dear Mayor Daley: Please shut up. You ain't helping us."

Is there anyone doing more damage against advocates of gun control than Daley? The man is a walking billboard for right-to-carry laws. Anyone needing proof of that might want to read the statements he made in the wake of an 80-year-old Chicago man fatally shooting a career criminal who invaded his home.

Daley, is his effort to help the other Chicago criminals, may be helping us with SCOTUS.

God made men. Samuel Colt made them all equal.

Just so I understand...this article is basically saying facts (from the liberal POV) aren’t relevant in the gun control debate? That’s a rather brazen admission. This must be Daley’s Helen Thomas moment.

"Criminals have far more access to guns today than in the history of this country and that is frightening to America. We have to do something about it. You cannot live in America as the Wild West."

"America as the Wild West" would be a much safer place, sleaze.

Yes, I understood that. The implication of Mr Daley’s ‘arguments’ are no facts allowed. Which is the hallmark of most all liberal debates.

I hope old man Daley keeps flapping his gums about guns. It can only help the pro-RKBA side expose the idiocy of the left.

Even though SCOTUS is supposed to stick to the record in reviewing a case, the justices do read the news. If they read this about Daley, they’re that much more likely to reach the right decision.

Exactly correct. The reason that OK Corral and other such things were such sensations, is that they were exceedingly rare and naturally became huge news stories.

Our homicide rates are already much higher than in the wild west. Even worse, factor in those shot and stabbed today who survive because of modern communications, medicines, surgical techniques, EMS systems, 911, etc,,,then realize they would have died in 1875. When you factor that in it becomes ridiculous how much more violent we are today.

Daley is wrong,,

“He still believes that ... access to guns kills far more people than it saves.”

Hey Daley, being soft on criminals hurts and kills far more people than it helps or saves. Time to promote the death penalty.

Hey Daley, access to welfare impoverishes far more people than it helps. Time to ban welfare.

Hey Daley, the public school system dumbs down far more people than it educates. Time to ban public schools.

Also from the article:

Here’s Daley’s final quote, and it’s another lulu:

“Access to guns will destroy America faster than any other war. Take Europe. Take Japan and other countries that don’t have the access to guns. They don’t have the amount of killings.”

Hey Daley, notice what the parts of Europe without violence and Japan have in common? One dominant race. Are you saying it’s time for ethnic cleansing?

Whre I live here in the exurbs of Knoxville, TN, we all have nearly unlimited access to guns and many of us pack. Right now there are two loaded ones within 20 feet of me. Something's wrong. Not a single murder or similar crime in this neighborhood in the 22 years I've been here. Obviously, I'm hopelessly oblivious to the bullet pocked, blood drenched street that's right in front of my house.

I personally will not be happy until liberalism is denounced as fascist treason and all democRATs are put in prison.

That, for me, would be a pretty good day.
