Glenn Beck is the Gentile Jackie Mason.

He’s an ENTERTAINER. And he’s not all THAT entertaining.

IMHO . . . IM “not so” HO.

Go to You Tube and search for Jackie Mason and listen to some of his latest rants.

I am an art historian by education. The early Christian and Middle Ages were of particular interest to me, and I specialized in illuminated manuscripts. I have been a professional calligrapher in past decades.

Most folks don’t realize that for most of Chrisianity, bibles were copied by hand, often by people who couldn’t read. For three-quarters of the history of Christianity the bible was known to most only from having listened to excerpts read out loud. For a person to even possess a bible was a capital crime; only Catholic church priests and officers were to possess and read bibles, interpreting the doctrine for the simple folk.

Yes, there were elaborate missals created for the rich and powerful during the late Middle Ages, but not entire bibles.

The medieval Christian church was all about control and particularly controlling the message. It started very early with Pope Gregory (the Great).

All unapproved gospels were ordered destroyed by the Catholic church. That fact is irrefutable. So when texts like the Gospel of St. Thomas and Gospel of Mary Magdalen appear after being hidden in an Egyptian oasis for centuries, it is exciting for what they can reveal about what the early church wanted to hide or selectively control.

The comment about over 65,000 textual errors originated with Bart D. Ehrman, and is from his book, Misquoting Jesus.

Mistranslations?

So that means there is no unfailiable Word of God for mankind.

Rather sad.

Not so fast. What humans create is fallible.

God’s message still shines through and shouldn’t affect one’s faith.

Yes, I like to watch his programs concerning the founders and how our history is being perverted and not truly disseminated by educators.

When I was a small child we lived behind a public library. This library had wonerful biographies of famous Americans written for children: our founders, presidents, and generals of the Revolution and Civil War era. All these books had been written during the depression, yet were inspirational, presenting examples of patriotic lives lived selflessly. None presented a politically correct message.

It is impossible to find such books written by today’s authors and our culture is the poorer for it.

Well, I reckon that to be sure of that you’d have to be God....

Glenn is looking for facts about what has been happening in this country for the past hundred years.

Too bad he hasn't yet looked for 'facts' of the last 180 years!

Did you know that there are over 65,000 textual errors in the King James version of the Bible?

Of course; we ASLL do!

That's why Joseph Smith cleaned them ALL out when HE retranslated the KJV!

As it was, Beck then confessed, "I don't know because I didn't look it up" ...

Dang!

That is familiar!

Sorta like MORMONs can't seem to 'look it up' when trying to find out what JS alledgely learned was UNTRUE about PRESBYTERIANism.

The King James Bible might be beautiful and poetic English, but inerrant it definitly is not.

And you KNOW this 'fact' by comparing the KJV to a TRJUE translation; right?

At least it can be said that the info was out there for people if they wanted to avail themselves before making educated decisions.

GEE!

THAT sounds familiar, too!

J Edgar Hoover and the OSS performed such an amazing vilification agitprop campaign that even now over a half century later, we as a nation can not perform civil discourse on the political spectrum of 1930’s Europe

Lost me there. One individual and an organization I've never seen on the same side. OSS was riddled with Soviet agents, Hoover was an anti-communist. Could you explain more?

Have you seen the threads on the book MORMON Doctrine

Lots of people sure learned how to read fast when Gutenberg revolutionized the mass production of books, wasn't it then? (they were being mass produced earlier, just by hand)

The left hates this man and will find any flaw to condemn him. I do learn a lot from his show and I believe he is a man who wants what is best for our country. I have read that he even has security for fear that someone will hurt/kill his wife and/or kids. What he says must be serious for that action to be taken. I hope he has a crew that does better research BUT I am willing to allow some mistakes.

So if I type Gesus Khrist when writing about the Savior he is no longer the savior?

Dyslexics are all going to hell as well I guess...
