YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Sen. John McCain will be campaigning in Yuma in southwestern Arizona on Friday.

The senator will open his Yuma County Campaign Office and then head to Armed Forces Park to receive an award from the county Chamber of Commerce.

McCain doesn’t have to debate J.D. He’s leading in the polls.

Juan, of course, is the MSM darling in this one. Our “non-biased” media know a good, dependable RINO when they see one.

McCain agreed to debate J.D., but he lied just like he does about everything else.

That’s not the issue. McCain doesn’t have to debate J.D. He’s leading. J.D. needs to gain some traction, apply pressure to McCain’s lead, then the debate will happen. Until then... McCain is going to rely on the Arizona voter to return him to office.

Why would I wish that an evil man was in office just because an even more evil man is?

The GOP/RNC should have stopped this reprobate from running, and I’m just as angry at them. They have to be purged of country club RINOS .

With your argument, there would never be a debate between candidates.

There’s always a leader, even in statistically-even polling. All leaders should simply point to Carton253’s (lack of) reasoning.

McCain has spent close to 6,000,000 to Hayworths 500,000, and you tell me we don’t need a debate?

Hayworth has got to come out and call McCain a COWARD, period!

I don't believe debates are pre-requisites for running for office. It is up to the candidates if they want to debate each other.

McCain is leading. Why should he risk turning in a bad debate performance and give his opponent momentum?

Don't blame McCain for J.D.'s poor performance in the primary.

Why doesn't J.D. have money? Why isn't he performing better in the polls? Why isn't he gaining on McCain?

Can't J.D. do better than he's doing?

McCain has 20 million dollars left, and you post this drivel?

Get a clue!

On the contrary, if I were JD, I'd do ads saying McCain is a coward to debate the important issues facing Americans- and Arizonaians.

Who the hell is running JDs campaign? McCain is ripe for the picking and yet JD isn't really gaining any momentum. Specter's loss proves and establishment guy can be beat.

Come on, JD, do something to turn the tide, and go after McCain something fierce!

If Arizona was ready to dump McCain, then J.D.'s campaign would be doing better than it is.

Arizona seems to be well satisfied with their maverick RINO senator, even if you're not.

I'm not saying that McCain is right not to debate. In fact, it is rather cowardly. What I'm saying is McCain does not have to debate just because FReepers want him to. That's a big gamble for McCain to take. Why should he take it?

JD on the other hand needs to put pressure on McCain and force him to debate. Otherwise JD is going to lose.

Posted on another thread, but I think the question we (and JD) should be asking is, why is JD not out in front of this guy? It has nothing to do with endorsements, etc.

My whole issue all along is, if McCain is such a weak candidate, why is JD doing so badly? And if JD is such a strong conservative, why isn't he getting endorsements from the NRA, etc.? Specter's loss is proof an old dog can be beat. But why hasn't JD caught on? I just don't buy the 'McCain's power' and 'Sarah's endorsement' as a valid reason why JD isn't doing better.

I'm not familiar with AZ politics, but is there any left over from JD's defeat some years ago? Are people wary of that?

Just wish I could put my finger on why JD isn't resonating with voters. Hoping that changes, though, and he pulls our a late minute victory. Nothing would give me more joy than to see McCain put out to pasture.

If I were JD's campaign manager, I'd be doing focus groups left and right to find out what's wrong with JD- not what's wrong with McCain. Until you know voters perception of you, going after your opponent is a waste of time. Once you find out what perceptions are, work to change them- and frame them within the context of what voters want.

Now is the time to do this, JD. Sink or swim time is now.
