WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation's minority population is steadily rising and now makes up 35 percent of the United States, advancing an unmistakable trend that could make minorities the new American majority by midcentury.
As white baby boomers age past their childbearing years, younger Hispanic parents are having children — and driving U.S. population growth.
"The aging of baby boomers beyond young middle age will have profound impacts on our labor force, housing market, schools and generational divisions on issues such as Social Security and Medicare," said William H. Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution. "The engine of growth for the younger population in most states will be new minorities."

As long as they’re conservative patriots...fine...but if they’re expecting handouts, they’ll have a rude awakening when they discover there’s nobody left to handout to them.

Estimates? I thought the census was an ACTUAL head count. Yep, there’s some cookin’ going on with those books....
America as we know it can survive as a multi-ethnic country.
But it won’t survive if we are multi-cultural.
The difference between the two is whether these new minority groups assimilate or not.
Previous waves of immigrants were expected to assimilate, and they did assimilate.
Today’s masses are not assimilating, nor are they expected to based on our government and social policies. To me, that’s a far bigger problem than someone’s skin color or ethnic background.
Yes a census is supposed to be an actual head count. I thought they had not released actual figures from this years’ census yet.
As long as they are born here, they are Americans, just like the rest of us.
Immigration drives 75% of our population growth. 87% of the 1.2 million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS who enter annually are minorities as defined by the USG. And 66% are Hispanic.
We’ve been a multi-cultural country for over a hundred years and we survived it.

They are assimilating. They don't want to go back. Their kids are definitely blending in, one way or the other.

White liberals are laughable in the way they celebrate the demographic decline of white people. They actually think the minority moocher types are going to continue to elect them as their massas to watch out for them against us evil conservatives.
In fact, as the SC senate primary shows, black people at least will vote for a felon if he’s black and the alternative is white.
Nah, not really. Not one German or Filipino in my near family holds on to any foreign custom of the past. That’s how America was....after 2 or so generations, only the language and religion seem to be the things to linger on. The 70’s marks the change in our immigration policy,...a change of rejecting America’s culture and history and reverting to relativism in anointing the new culture of power.
There has always been a bit of multi-culturalism, but the difference is at the end of the day we were all still Americans and stood together.
That has changed...
