what did they do with the oil soaked hay? If it washed up on a beach, they would just rake it up.
You could run it through rollers to extract some of the oil, and then burn the hay in a regular biomass boiler.

Well. If anyone knows about sucking, it would be the big O.
In which context, as in being crappy, or in the Larry Sinclair context?

Based upon that, they should be dumping boat loads of hay out there along with whatever other clean up techniques they are using. Does the use of hay have to be approved by the Federal government? I don”t see a sense of urgency, other than to cover their collective butts, from these federal jackasses. Use every damn means available to clean this up as fast as you can!

Loved the two farmers with the hay video. I was chuckling all the way through it. Of course it works. Anybody got a clue how much hay you'd need for this:
Some members of the government panel say the flow rate could be as high 100,000 barrels of oil a day, or 4.2 million gallons. Man, that's a lot of hay.
Ok, lets say we did it ... now we've got 4.2 million gallons of oil on a significant pile of hay (and just today's batch). Now, crude is a "hazardous" chemical ... what r ya gonna do wid it? Can't burn it, air pollution, can't bring it on land without a permit. And can you imagine trying to get a permit to drag it on shore? Loved the idea, it's good to "use" around the house if you spill some oil in the garage or something. It does work. But I'm still trying to picture a pile of hay that has absorbed 4.2 million gallons. Now that's a haystack!

You know, that stuff could be turned into its own power source: oil-soaked hay/straw/peat moss.

Well if Barry doesn’t suck hard enough I’m sure Barney’s Frank would be glad to help.
To: ThePatriotsFlag
Can't burn it, air pollution, can't bring it on land without a permit. Let it wash up, the EPA can fine the waves for not having a permit.
Then burn it. You give it enough air it would burn clean. I'm sure the governors would be happy to say "screw the feds" at this point.
