Last week, I pondered whether President Obama should fire Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar. If you notice, this past week, Salazar has not been in front of the camera or making many public statements. He’s no longer directly in the line of fire and probably in part because of his clumsy performance with cliched statements about putting his boot on BP’s neck and sending his deputy to the Gulf without a change of underwear. It looked like Ken Salazar had been taking a siesta for the past several weeks under his big ten gallon hat.

On the contrary, I did see him in the hot seat admitting that he added two paragraphs to the report by the experts on the efficacy of shutting down all deep water drilling.

That is a definitely breach of protocol and may even be illegal.

The scientists stated that it would not be safe to shut down the rigs. It would be more dangerous than allowing them to continue pumping and commence a safety examination of each rig.

Salazar is an absolute idiot. Also, for your question, he knows nothing about the MMS. Everyone can easily point fingers at things that they know nothing about. In this business, shit happens...sometimes big shit happens. The people at the MMS are good people. The people at BP are good people, and are extremely concerned about solving the problem. Obama knows less than a 4th grader when it comes to the oil and gas business. Thanks, I feel better. Only been in this business for 35 years, so I am a little sensitive.
