All the Sizzlers in my area packed up and left atleast 15 years ago.

This is purely anecdotal, but I've mentioned a local fast-food restaurant chain at which I've seen employees who appear to be illegal aliens.

Bilingual menu
Lots of these people come to eat there
Saw a manager interview a prospective employee (in Spanish) and did not ask her for proof of legal residency
Very unsanitary food handling practices (varies with which manager is on shift):
* dropping items on the ground and then handing food to people without washing hands first ("but I didn't touch your FOOD" when I pointed this out to the worker)
* dropping paper napkins on the dirty restaurant floor and then stuffing them back into the napkin dispenser (when I pointed this out to the worker, his response was "I don't know")

A number of links bear this out. I hope this chain gets hit in CA like Sizzler did in AZ.

Haven’t been to a Chizzler in years. They were good when I was a kid - we’d go all the time. Red and White checked tablecloths, sawdust on the floor. It was a build-yer-own-burger joint. What are they now? - salad bar and stuff, bleech!. Good for the ICE raid though!

All the Sizzlers in my neck of the woods closed when a a lot of people got sick and a little girl died from a food borne disease. There was also a TB scare after their salad bar prep cook was found to have the disease.

I used to work at Sizzler 20 years ago. We had several spanish speaking employees, but they weren’t illegal as far as I know. And they worked very hard at learning english. I learned a lot of spanish from them, too. There is only one Sizzler left in the area and it’s pretty good.

We should have drug enforcement type forfeiture if they were knowingly hired. Seize all property and sell at auction. After a couple of resturants and construction co’s are seized and re-sold people will quit hiring them. But DO NOT use this as an excuse for not deporting the other criminals in the equation.

There's lots of details.

If the employer un-knowingly or un-intentionally hired the illegal, he is not subject to sanctions. If the employer checked the employees names and data against the fed's employee verification database and got the OK to hire, then he has no liability, and if this is the case, then the ex-employee who blew the whistle would be subject to prosecution.

If the employer didn't use the fed verification system and hired illegals, even though the employer has his I-9 docs on file, then the employer is subject to sanctions.

A first time employer offender is subject to having his business license revoked for 10 days. A second time employer offender can have his business license revoked permanently.

“YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Put them in PRISON!!!”

IF Ice bothers to take them, which they’ve threatened not to, they’ll simply go to one of the country club detention centers. Illegal aliens have SPECIAL perks.
