Rove Rips Moran, stumps for Tiahrt
K.C. Star ^ | 06/13/2010 | Steve Kraske

"Rove is the second leading Republican leader to criticize Moran. Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert has repeatedly knocked Moran, saying "he was never there."

"I mean, he’d always be out there grabbing a headline," Hastert said, "but he was never there in my experience of doing the hard work to make things happen.”

In the interview, Rove wa particulary harsh on Moran for how the congressman approached a 2001 bill on trade promotion authority that Rove said was aimed at knocking down trade barriers and would have helped Moran's rural western Kansas district.

Rove said Moran tried to cut a deal on the bill, offering to back it, but only if the president or Commerce Secretary Don Evans agreed to come to Kansas to help Moran raise campaign money.

Rove said the idea was ridiculous because Moran already had a big cash-on-hand total and likely wouldn't face a serious opponent. Moran was from one of the safest Republican districts in the nation.

It was, `What's in it for me?'" Rove said of Moran. He said Moran told him, "You've got to give the president to me in a safe Republican district or the secretary of commerce to me in a safe Republican district to do a fundraiser."

The Bush team eventually pressed a North Carolina Republican to vote for the bill, which resulted in its narrow passage."

Jerry Moran is a very selfish politician. He never recruits conservatives to run for office, he gets in the way when others try to recruit conservatives for office, he never raises money for anyone other than himself.

In this particular case, Rove points out that Jerry Moran was willing to use up money and resources he did not need, purely to feed Moran's own ego.

Todd Tiahrt is a MOVEMENT CONSERVATIVE and deserves your support!

Just a little side note:

THE WICHITA EAGLE SUCKS!

The Eagle did not even print Rove’s bombshell charges, against Moran!

“Karl Rove laid into Republican Senate candidate Jerry Moran, calling him a what’s-in-it-for-me politician.”

Is there another kind?

Yes, there is.
That you have to ask leads me to my question:

“Why are you here, on a political blog, if you do not think we have any good politicians out there, to support?”

Tiahrt is a selfless, dedicated conservative.

Moran is leading Tiahrt in the primary. the Battle will be in the large county of Kansas. So Far Jerry has been working Johnson / Wyndotte much harder then Tiahrt. Jerry appeals more to all Kansans then Todd.

I guess we will see how the race plays out but it seems that Todd should have stayed with his seat in Wichita as the companies down there need him more in the congress then they do sitting at home in Washington, DC when he loses in the primary to Moran.

I like Karl Rove but he is wrong this time on the Tiahrt / Moran race.

Moran is a phoney.
Rove KNOWS that Moran is a phoney.

With my own ears, I once hear Moran use the term “wingers” to describe conservatives.

MORAN IS NOT ONE OF US!

MORAN IS A JOHN MCCAIN RINO!

I know a close friend of Moran. While I am rooting Tiahrt, he says he is a really good guy.

I hope Tiahrt will pull it off, but it’s not looking good.

Why do you say it’s not looking good? Methinks you are listening to mainstream media in their continuous quest to promote Moran. Tiahrt has endorsements from Mark Levin, James Dobson, Dr. Bill Bennett, John Ashcroft, Rick Santorum, Mike Pence, Tea Party Express, Eagle Forum, Family Research Council, Tony Perkins, George Allen, Dennis Hastert, KS Federation of College Republicans, Phyllis Schlafly, Kansans for Life, Steve Forbes, and more! The latest poll was bogus. McCainiac Moran is dropping like a rock and Tiahrt is surging now that people are paying attention to the race.
