Good update. I think Craig and Martinez are gone or will be soon. And as for Specter.... Well, he got his walking papers already.

I feel pretty certain that the Kyl amendment would survive if it was part of a new bill. So it DOES NOT change the reality.

Just think. if it’s only 20 percent that fail the backgground check and we have 15 million here now wanting shamnesty.

You better gas up the buses pilgrim and hire ALLOT more ICE agents.

"Wide-stance" Craig is already gone. Politically, I think you could get a lot of self-deporting done simply by a demonstrated willingness to enforce the law. Arizona has proved as much.

I think we could even rachet it up a notch or two with a cash for deportation program.

The first million or so who report for deportation would get a cash payment for each year they've been here and even some extra points for consideration of getting an immigrant visa if they had done things like learned English and paid taxes. These bennies would only be collectable when they are physically present in their country of origin.

The second million would get a generous benefit package until finally you get down to offering a nice sack lunch and a free bus ride.

By the time you get to the end of said amnesty program, those remaining could be rounded up and have their bank accounts and property seized to help pay for the program. The cream of the crop of the early takers would also start being admitted.

There would be no need to open a special line for the amnesty crowd to get into the back of-- because the early departures would already be moving to the front of the regular lines.
