Sure the congressman overreacts, but hasn’t the kid learned proper manners: “Hello Congressman, I’m Joe College from Great Books U, I have a question for a school project.”

And “do you support the Obama agenda?” Isn’t that a little broad, a little vague, a lot broad and vague, a little hostile, some kind of setup?

And yeah, congresscritters ought to know how to brush off a hostile set piece without getting physical.

How do you get to “hostile” from “a little broad, a little vague”? There wasn’t anything hostile about it. The only hostility in evidence at all came from Etheridge. The students were well-mannered and respectful, both in their words and in demeanor. They did not chase him down or ambush him. It was a simple question, respectfully posed, and Etheridge *chose* to interpret it as hostile—for reasons undoubtedly connected to alcohol and the latest Obama approval polls.
