Pity poor Arizona!
First, the federal government causes it a lot of economic damage by failing to enforce the immigration laws.
Then, when Arizona decides to lend a helping hand on enforcement, the political left gets in a snit and launches a boycott.
Fine. Let them.
I'm launching a buycott.
My wife and I are canceling our planned trip to San Francisco this summer.
We'll be going to Arizona, instead.
We want our hard-earned tourist dollars to go to the good people there, not the extreme leftist city that Nancy Pelosi calls home.
Besides, to be honest, I wanted to go to Arizona, anyway.
You see, I used to live there. It's a beautiful place. I've always loved it ... and always will.
In fact, you should go, too.
The federal government is running a $1.5 trillion deficit. By comparison, the deficit was just $163 billion - which still seemed like quite a bit at the time - as recently as 2007.
What is the government buying with that borrowed money?
Among other things, the Heritage Foundation says (citing a Congressional Budget Office report), it's spending $2.6 million "training Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly on the job."
It's also funding research to determine how much alcohol a college coed might have to consume before becoming, as my generation used to put it, "sexually loose."

I was there recently and enjoyed my shopping trip very much! My sister is planning to go to AZ soon as well and bypassing Austin (where she used to live) altogether.
We love Arizona! :)
We’re coming next week! Near Flagstaff, what’s better ,Oak Creek Canyon or Walnut Canyon?
Drive through Oak Creek and see all the Sedona area. Plan a lot of time for hiking.
Thank me when you get back.
You can do day trips out of Flagstaff.
Either up into the mtns or down into the canyons.
A loop trip might include Prescott and lots of Pueblo stuff to see.
Don’t have the time or the dime to take a vacation right now, but I’m definitely considering AZ this fall. I have a friend in Scottsdale I haven’t seen in years.
Come, we welcome you. But bring your own fan. I need mine. ;)
I love Oak Creek Canyon. My wife and I spent our 10th wedding anniversary in Sedona.
ooooOOOOOOOOOOoooooooh!
I love Arizona too, but i will love it more in the winter
sooo hot now
Good to let those in Arizona know your supporting them..
Don't know much about Walnut Canyon, but Oak Creek is gorgeous. It has a paved road, campgrounds, motels, restaurants, etc. Slide Rock State Park is a favorite swimming hole this time of year.
Once you get down into Sedona, you can drive over to the next big canyon to the west, which is Sycamore Canyon. It's every bit as big and beautiful as Oak Creek Canyon, but is a wilderness area where you have to hike in or ride horseback. Even bicycles are forbidden. It makes a nice contrast with the development in Oak Creek.
Only down in the deserts, trust me.
The mountains, plateaus, and canyons in the north and east part of the state are perfect this time of year. It has been less than a month since they opened the road to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, which is over 9000 feet elevation and has been closed due to impassable snow since October.
I have standards-I have no liberal friends.
Prescott is well worth the trip in summer. There are lots of art and music fairs, a major rodeo, horse racing, streets full of beautiful Victorian homes, the shady courthouse square, and Whiskey Row with its dozens of bars and live music.
I once visited the clifftop Hopi Indian villages with my kids. That was an excellent trip. Walpi is the most scenic and well-preserved village that white people are allowed to visit. Oraibi is the oldest community in the U.S.-- people have been living on these cliffs for at least a thousand years-- but it is off limits to all but Indians.

But it's truly a gorgeous place, and is a nice base from which to take interesting day trips like to Meteor Crater, on the road from Flagstaff to Winslow, the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, and of course, the Grand Canyon!
Slide Rock State Park is really gorgeous, and the falls are fun, but that water is COLD!!!
Hmmmmmm....well, fishing licenses are a little on the spendy side, but I suppose it should be worth the money to use my Quantum Hypercast spinning reel more often.
You just tell your lib friends that your mission is to promote unionization and environmentalism. That is, you’ll bring 15 of the ‘uncocumented aliens’ back with you in that at least that many can do the lib co-worker’s job.
Secondly, envorinmental impact in that all those ‘undocumented aliens’ living in the pristinge desert is unacceptable, so they’ll be living on your lib co-workers front lawn instead.
Oops, that first part: at least 15 can do the same job for 30% less aggregate than the lib worker.
How can they argue against unionization? Boss hires 15 to do one persons job for 1/3 less. See? win-win for everybody (lib gets to collect unemployment).
I absolutely agree!
If possible even if it may cost a small percentage more by all means buy products from Arizona.
This is an absolute burr under Obamas saddle, he and his handlers were not prepared for this action.
sooo hot now
But its a DRY heat. lol
LOL. I know several Sedona residents, all transplants from San Francisco Bay area. I wonder if there's a connection...
I've also put an Arizona flag into my #2 flag rotation, along with Gadsden, Washington's Cruisers, and Bunker Hill.
I went to college in a place where it was -45F in January. The locals said, "But, it's a DRY cold".
Wet or dry, -45F is damn cold.
I've been in Tucson in August, and, let me tell you, wet or dry, 112F is WAY too hot.
Arizona Travel Instructions for newbies......
Go buy some Tony Hillerman books and an SCAAA club Indian Country Map. Go to Arizona and follow and see the exploits of Lt Joe Leaphorn and Sgt Jim Chee. The map is the one Lt Leaphorn uses to solve his cases and is the best when wandering around Arizona and Utah
Hillerman writes cop mysteries that make great travelogues
We were talking to shop owners in Sedona last week. over 150 businesses have shut down over the past 2 years during the second unnecessary years they spent renovating route 179/89A. They are raving mad at the corruption involved.
Tourism has died according to them and a lot of mom & pop shops won't make it to the end of the year.
Pearce bill would target Arizona anchor babies
Under potential law, children born in U.S. to illegal immigrants wouldnt be citizens
http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/061410_anchor_babies_law
Sen. Russell Pearce, who authored Arizonas controversial new immigration law, now wants to deny citizenship to so-called anchor babies.
Citizenship is granted to children born in the U.S. even to illegal immigrants, according to the Constitution.
But Pearce told Time Magazine that the 14th Amendment has been hijacked by illegal immigrants.
They use it as a wedge, he said.
This is an orchestrated effort by them to come here and have children to gain access to the great welfare state weve created.
(The great welfare state created by Dems in order to hold onto power.)
Oklahoma Republican Randy Terrill is working on a similar bill for his state.
Currently, if you have a child born to two alien parents, that person is believed to be a U.S. citizen, Terrill told NPR.
When taken to its logical extreme, that would produce the absurd result that children of invading armies would be considered citizens of the U.S.
A similar bill is working its way through Congress.
Several European countries do not grant birthright citizenship, but about 30 countries do.
Mayors group condemns Arizona immigration law
http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/061410_mayors_immigration
Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon sponsored the first resolution opposing the Arizona law that makes crossing the border illegally a state crime and requires police to verify peoples immigration status. The law goes into effect July 29.
A second resolution by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa calls for the repeal of the Arizona law and for Congress to pass comprehensive changes to immigration law.
The U.S. Council of Mayors approved the resolutions by voice vote during a conference in Oklahoma City.

by voice vote ?!
cowards.
Arizona is one our favorite destinations. We will spend some time there in late August.
Another ‘Buycott’ Ping!
Yep. Austin, TX found out what their silly concil’s proclomation against AZ did for them. The Republic Of Texas biker rally was this past weekend. The ROT website told bikers to stay in Round Rock, Georgetown, Bastrop, and other smaller towns. They did and Austin lost a lot of $$$$$$$s. The small hotels in those towns all had “No Vacacny” signs all weekend.
Was in Phoenix in August, 110 in the shade. spent most of the time in the motel pool sipping gin and tonic.
We went there in May of 2000, and rented a home on the 17th tee of the Oak Creek Country Club. It was fantastic! One morning I was sitting out on the back porch with my b-i-l, drinking coffee, and a foursome walked up to the tee. One of the men looked over and asked when breakfast was going to be ready. I told him as soon as he came in and cooked it! They had a big laugh over that.
But it was awesome at night, because there were no lights back there, on the course, and we could sit in the hot tub and look at what seemed to be millions of stars that looked SO close!
Excellent idea, thanks george76!
