Soccer is not an American game. Who cares about it, anyway?

Come to think of it, ever since South Africa went native under that delightful, lovable Mandela couple, the place has been on a fast freefall towards a Zimbabwe situation.

Who cares about it, either? In the long run it will be a case of “Africa wins again.”

I don’t blame Mandela, I believe he is a good man who wanted the best for the New South Africa. But unfortunately, the problems are much bigger than him, and the ANC was inundated with too many unsavory characters.

As bad as SA is today, once Mandela passes, things will get much worse.

I’m sure he would believe that the smart thing to have done would have been to lose WWII gracefully. Morons all.

“As bad as SA is today, once Mandela passes, things will get much worse.”

Agreed.

If the entire history of Africa means anything, the place, and its quarrelsome, sometimes cannibalistic peoples, are not ready for any social system more advanced than tribalism.

Therefore, bring back the Boers. Or the British.

There are peoples unready for freedom and nationhood in a modern world.

Doesn’t this guy find it even just a little bit ironic that the U.S. is one of the few “civilized” countries in the world that doesn’t have riots among soccer fans with boring regularity?

This has nothing to do with sports. A better title would have been “How I Despise My Country.”

Libtards want to be liked. Real Men and Women want to be respected.

He doesn't even realize that in the end that's what all of these teams want. The team that wins will gain respect. Teams that play well and advance further than thought will also gain respect even if they don't win (Ghana in 2006). Powerful teams that play dirty lose respect (Portugal in 2006).

But it's still all about earned respect on a level playing field, something liberal idiots can't understand.

FIFA banned South Africa due to racism, but won’t ban other countries no matter how bad their human rights abuses are.

wouldn’t you — at a minimum — boycott Swedish meatballs and Swedish massage

Reminds me of the idiots who, over the Arizona illegal immigrant law, wanted to boycott Arizona Tea. You know, the company founded and based in New York.

Most of the world does not threaten us; rather, most of the world is terrified by us.

That's just the way I like it; I don't care if they like us, as long as they fear us.

Germans vacation in Spain, and the places they go they expect a “little Germany” with their beer, wurst, etc. Americans usually go to experience the local culture.

I can specifically name one case when I was abroad where the locals commented to us how they appreciated the Americans jumping into local custom (eating new things, and with our hands), whereas the Brits who were there just had to have their silverware and plates, and couldn’t try everything.

My first thoughts were that nobody from Cleveland could be such a poof. I was correct, the cornhole is from the LA Times.

Exactly right! I saw a documentary once, in the Amazon I think, and the anthropologist ran into a couple of Americans who were just exploring in the area and happened upon the village that the documentary team was filming in. Just exploring.
