* Police discuss Surprise mom who chose to leave kids to become stripper

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Police officers arrested a 29-year-old Surprise woman after she reportedly told police she didn't want her children any longer and punched her 11-year-old son in the stomach in front of officers.

On Friday, police received a call from an 11-year-old boy who said his mother was packing and moving to California and wasn't taking him or his 6-year-old brother with her.

When police officers arrived, they contacted the 11-year-old outside the family's apartment in the 16600 block of North Greasewood Street.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Mark Ortega, the boy's mother, Christina Muniz, came out and told officers that she was "sick of her children" and wanted the police to take them so she can "have fun and play."

Ortega said Muniz told police she wanted to start her life over and follow her dream of wanting to become a stripper and move to California.

The older boy told investigators that he took care of himself and his little brother. He said their mom spent her money on alcohol and there wasn't very much food in the house.

Responding officers contacted Child Protective Services.

Ortega said Muniz continued to be verbally abusive to the children in the presence of CPS and police. She reportedly yelled at the children, cursed at them and told them she did not want them.

As the children were being removed by CPS, the older boy attempted to hug his mom and she punched him in the stomach, according to Ortega.

CPS had been contacted in the past for reports of physical and emotional abuse, but caseworkers said the complaint was unsubstantiated.

Muniz was arrested and charged with child neglect, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

...aggravated assault...

I've never seen anybody else unsure about ag assault as a "victimless crime".

Are you confused about it ?

I was zeroing in on the drug paraphernalia. Some folks view substance abuse as a victimless crime. In my experience, drug abuse often leads to actions -- such as aggravated assault -- which damage lives.

One has to ask why a 29-year-old mother wants to abandon her children, start her life over and just "have fun". I'm thinking drugs might have something to do with her erratic and violent behavior.

I know a lot of them aren’t. Its more like they are playing with dolls then being a mother. I do know some teen girls who are very mature and have babies. But these girls remind me of much older women.

I wonder if she ever realized her dreams and was able to do her life’s work, her true calling - a stripper in California.

My sister's ex-husband's ex-wife ran off and left her kids to be a dancer in Vegas so she could have a fulfilling life. She never made it to Vegas. Just to a trailer in North Carolina. It turned out that she wasn't the only source of the problem in that marriage.
