WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration says a climate and energy bill being pushed in the Senate would cost American households 22 to 40 cents a day, less than the cost of a postage stamp.

The Environmental Protection Agency said in a new analysis released Tuesday that a bill sponsored by Sens. John Kerry and Joe Lieberman would cost households an average of $79 to $146 per year.

I don’t believe their numbers. In fact, I don’t believe them period. It’s only a hundred here, a hundred there, but you know, it adds up. Pretty soon they own you and we are all just working for the goby.

Just another socialist scheme to redistribute money from hard-working businesses and their employees (the ants) to the lazy, shiftless, welfare scamming who don’t work (the grasshoppers). November 2010 can’t come soon enough.

"And you can take that prediction to the bank - has the government EVER underestimated the potential cost of something?"

Yup - damn near every time. I think you got this backwards...

Maybe it's time for a compromise. Each day we pay the government $0.42 and they turn loose some prison lifers who run a gauntlet between a few thousand selected rate payers.

That'd be fair ~ maybe even add some Gitmo prisoners in the mix ~ kind of spice it up.

Now there are those who'd say this isn't fair, and isn't American but they don't know Mohawk traditions fur shur!

Yeah, right. Health Care Reform is free, too.

Actually, they might be right about the cost, but only if they are assuming modest incremental costs coupled with huge reductions in the American standard of living.

Compared to Cap’n Trade, Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP will seem like examples of fairness and cost effectiveness.

For 40 cents a day YOU can feed a starving child. If you take my 40 cents a day BO, a child will have to go hungry. But BO will send your 40 cents a day to a tinhorn dictator in the third world. To liberals that's even better.

Let me see, the Dims present the Bush Tax cuts as giving money to the rich. As a tax preparer from the time of the first Bush tax reduction, I can absolutely say that even the "Earned Income Credit" taxpayers benefitted. The root concept from the Bush Administration was that more money in the individual's pocket, the better the economic results.

The Obama root concept is to push money down from the top and push it into specific interest and industry groups. Everybody else faces uncertain economics with nebulous potential tax increases and tax code changes (aka 'got-cha'). Gee, why isn't the economy improving?!?

BS - your electric rates alone will double. Natural gas will skyrocket as well, when utilities scramble to find a viable replacement for Coal-fired generation. Gasoline and diesel fuel prices will rise enormously as well. If this passes, any hope that this nation might recover economically is over. Game over!

Business will pass those costs onto customers.

Businesses will close or move their operations out of the country. Then the left (and some here) will whine about how they can't buy US-built goods and how those evil companies are to blame.
