There’s a really excellent Christian guitarist named Phil Keaggy. I guess his music doesn’t have a wide enough audience to make a list like this, but he is great.

Stevie Ray Vaughn should have been higher. He should have been in the top five, maybe the top 3.

Hendrix at #1 makes sense.

Enrique Granados

Augustín Barrios Mangoré

Mauro Giuliani

Fernando Sor

Isaac Albeníz <-—This guy should get in the top five even if he doesn’t play the guitar

Only 1 of the 3 Kings.

Personal taste, I think Freddie is the worse miss.

Other misses to my mind are, Mark Knopfler that is an amazing version of Sultans of Swing, in particular the last 3 minutes.

Politics aside, Tom Morello belongs I don't think I fully believed it was him doing this solo without studio tricks until I saw him do it live.

Next to impossible to list when all genres are included.

Segovia at #47? Ignorant beyond belief. The idiots who compiled the list may as well have drawn the players out of a hat.

Lou Reed's on the list. Junior Brown isn't.

Silly list.

I call BS on several. First, Cobain should be nowhere near the top 50 all time. The guy was horrible. Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols wasn't much better.

Stevie Ray not in the top five....HOSSA FAIL!

Those not on the list who should be:

Jason Becker

Can I just add to this list one name that is never mentioned. But if you've ever seen this song played by this man, it will blow you away;

Lindsay Buckingham: Big Love. Phenomenal

And although I am not a fan of country, THIS GUY could smoke 90% of the guitarists on the list.

Pat Simmons of the Doobies also should get some mention just for Slat Key Soquel Rag alone:

It’s the usual list in any “Top — Guitarists.” Every list online, and every list in a magazine I’ve read, the usual “top ten” are included.

No Grady Martin?

The solo guitar part on El Paso by Marty Robbins is his. And sublime.

This list is a lot of Photobucket

Steve Hackett and Steve Howe (not the ex-Dodgers pitcher) belong on this list, not the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, whose name I've already forgotten.
