Obama running on empty: The president's energy speech was fueled by hot air
The Washington Times ^ | June 16, 2010 | Editorial

Posted on 06/16/2010 6:44:13 PM PDT by Abakumov

Despite Mr. Obama's dark vision of shadowy forces and gutless politicians denying the world a utopia of green fuels, alternative-energy sources are called "alternative" for a reason. Current technology will not support their economical and affordable use. Scientists have been working on these challenges for decades and hardly need Mr. Obama's nattering advice.

For all the condemnations of the internal-combustion engine, gasoline is an extremely efficient, safe and affordable fuel. Gasoline has 80 times the energy by weight of lithium batteries, which are energy-intensive to produce and toxic when disposed. Other potentially viable alternatives are stymied by government regulations. The most beneficial move government could make to promote alternative energy would be to disband the Energy Department and the Environmental Protection Agency and let scientists, inventors and innovators create future energy sources powered by more than the usual political hot air.

We should maybe “embark on a national mission to unleash American innovation and seize control of our own destiny” through developing odorless farts. Just as promising, doncha think??

Why is it that Progressives like Obama always stand in the way of real Progress?

Obama's investment in the oil spill is only hubris and misplaced pride, not competence reasoned decision making. Having Jendle beg for 1 1/2 months for equipment and funding to protect the wetlands and marshes, the breeding grounds for the fisheries, shrimp, and crabs, Obama answered with deafening silence, and thus insured failure to protect the national biohabits as well as make certain the unemployment rate goes up. Moreover, we now know that Obama refused help, in writing, to the Dutch who offered to provide skimmers and dredges (the Dutch live essentially beneath sealevel, and rely on constant removal of water and sludge)(it is reported they have 13 times as many skimmers and dredges as the US). Additionally, there have been over 1 dozen other countries to make similar offers, all of which fell on deaf ears at the White House. They said they could have removed 20,000 tons of oil per day from the gulf.

In a moment of self-deification Obama 'made the declaration' that no new well are to be drilled (anywhere) and many of the rigs leased by the oil companies are now leaving the gulf and going to Brazil. This, it is reported, will put over 180,000 people along the gulf out of work. Now, invested in his self absorbed hubris, his pride will not allow the scales to fall from his eyes the see what destruction this brings to the families along the gulf. He declared it,....so...it must be good.

This man is as incompetent as he is boastful (We are the ones we have been waiting for), but it is the American people who will have to cash the check this idiot is writing.

Michell Malkin, tonight, said she believes he is fearful and frozen in fear. He is a lawyer. Nothing against lawyers, but he has surrounded himself by lawyers and marxist lawyers.....no one he associates with is in the oil buisness,....hell, any kind of buisness. So what does he do? He reaches for a lawyer to adminster his newest slush fund. It is all he knows to do. Get me another czar and make it a lawyer.

It has gotten out of hand. This man is a danger to this country. I hope we can hold on until we emasculate the dems this fall.

unleash American innovation and seize control of our own destiny

What? The government has been shoving our innovation down a dark hole since the 1970's. Obama has capped it all of by stating that America is just ordinary with no special redeeming qualities so mediocrity is cool. Get used to it.

Obama and the entire Demonrat party itself is a CLEAR and PRESENT DANGER to this country, and what needs to happen to them is the same thing that would need to happen to any clear and present danger.

Here's hoping it skyrockets. That's the only thing that'll get through to some of 'them'.

Those odorless farts should also be the magic fuel to power America’s internal combustion engines!

THIS JUST IN The Progs say Obama'a flopola BP speech was too "professorial" for his target audience. Translation: His speech flopped b/c Ohaha and his staff are too smart for the "little people."

===========================================

THE FACTS ARE THESE Ohaha's speech reeked of Rahm and Axelrod's political calculations. Some of the phrases used---the allusion to our fighting men----the Reaganesque "God Bless America"----show the WH mob had calculatedly written the speech using focus-grouped phrases intended to suck Ohaha out of the political sinkhole he's made for himself. In fact, the speech was so well-rehearsed-----even down to the orchestrated voice inflections and gestures-----that Ohaha must have channelled Lee Strassberg.

========================================

The speech was slaughtered by Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman. Highlights of leftie thoughts on Obama's Oval Office Address on the oil spill.

Olbermann: "It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days."

Matthews compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: "Nothing specific at all was said."

Matthews: "No direction."

Howard Fineman: "He wasn't specific enough."

Olbermann: "I don't think he aimed low, I don't think he aimed at all. It's startling."

Howard Fineman: Obama should be acting like a "commander-in-chief."

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. "I'll barf if he does it one more time."

Matthews: "A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk."

Matthews: "I don't sense executive command."

Rachel Maddow hung her head in despair.....too disgusted to even speak.

========================

If anyone is stultifyingly sophmoric it's Ohaha and his speechwriters. They promised a brighter day.....tomorrow.......Gosh, can you all wait til Daddy Warbucks comes back to Little Orphan Annie?
