BP Oil Spill: Against Gov. Jindal's Wishes, Crude-Sucking Barges Stopped by Coast Guard
ABC ^ | 17 June 2010 | DAVID MUIR and BRADLEY BLACKBURN

Posted on 06/17/2010 4:24:50 PM PDT by Hoodat

Eight days ago, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal ordered barges to begin vacuuming crude oil out of his state's oil-soaked waters. Today, against the governor's wishes, those barges sat idle, even as more oil flowed toward the Louisiana shore.

"It's the most frustrating thing," the Republican governor said today in Buras, La. "Literally, yesterday morning we found out that they were halting all of these barges."

Sixteen barges sat stationary today, although they were sucking up thousands of gallons of BP's oil as recently as Tuesday. Workers in hazmat suits and gas masks pumped the oil out of the Louisiana waters and into steel tanks. It was a homegrown idea that seemed to be effective at collecting the thick gunk.

"These barges work. You've seen them work. You've seen them suck oil out of the water," said Jindal.

So why stop now?

Someone in the government hierarchy wants to make this blowout as damaging as possible. We need to find out precisely who that person is.

I don't know about you, but if there was some shady character running around that gave 10 billion u.S. tax dollars to Brazil to develop offshore drilling operations in a new field with a company that had been bought by George Soros just three days before and is now snapping up the drilling rigs leaving the Gulf, well I would be mighty damn suspicious.

Can anyone thing of such a person?

why only fire extinguishers and life jackets?
Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, gas detectors, sprinklers, masks, gloves, shoes.... is anyone over weight? They'll come up with any stupid reason to stop the clean up.

Aren't there any armed Patriots there who would protect the barges to allow them to keep doing their job?

Why is Jindal wasting time to do things legally when we all know that all barack is doing is unconstitutional. Jindal is for the people, barack is for himself.

Storm the white hut, peasants!

Oboma seems to want this disaster to be as bad as it possibly can be. Screw the environment - this is a crises that the Marxist can't let go to waste! "Spew that oil! Go baby, go!"

CG: Stop helping mitigate Obama’s oil spill. Heave to and prepare to be boarded.

Barge Captain: See those fighter jets? They are Louisiana National Guard and they have orders to sink you Obama lackeys’ tubs if you don’t move away in 10, 9, 8...

FUBO and your thugocracy!

I’m giving it two weeks. People are outraged. Heck, even the left is pissed beyond belief at so much incompetence.

There’s a limit as to what people are going to swallow from the federal government and the White House.

This was a deliberate delaying action.

Yes, it was. It looks like the Oboma administration is doing everything in it's power to make sure the oil continues to run.

He's doing the same thing to unemployment and the economy. Oil people around the country are now out of work. The unemployment numbers are sky rocketing. We're heading for a major economic crash - double digit the economists are saying.

Yet...Oboma appears to be so pleased about it all. He's almost giddy.

If enough weaponry was produced to back up the words “Eff Off!” to the the Coasties I have no doubt in my mind that Obongo would give the order to fire.

I seriously doubt that, but even if he did, I can't imagine that any of the Coast Guard personnel would actually fire on a citizen militia.

So the Feds make a passive-aggressive form of war against Louisiana and Arizona on the same day.

This is nasty.

Powder keg indeed.

Simple solution: staff the crude-suckers with illegals. No fed will come within 50 miles of them.

You mean someone else besides "the one" that gave the prime time speech the other night?

Fighter jets? In reality, a couple dozen random citizens brandishing their personal rifles with undetermined loadedness status, and a single picket sign reading "Louisiana Citizen Militia", would almost certainly be plenty to persuade the Coast Guard to back off. Add a single camera from a major media outlet, and I guarantee it would be plenty to persuade them to back off.

It's high time to start pushing back hard against federal government tyranny, and it would be greatly preferable to do it under the direction of a state governor, than just random citizens doing it on their own. This is a perfect scenario in which to start the process. There would be virtually no political opposition from the usual worshippers of federal government supremacy because their voter base consists almost entirely of enviromentalists who are (quite reasonably, for once) desperate to see this oil gushing disaster brought under control. From their point of view, if it saves one pelican, then a band of citizens pointing rifles at the Coast Guard and telling them to get lost is a good thing.

Exactly. Jindal could secure plenty of votes for the next Presidential election from both the right and enviro-left, if he put out an official call to the citizen militia. And I guarantee not a single shot would need to be fired to get the job done. How many thousands of gallons of oil didn't get sucked up, on account of this 24 hour work stoppage?
