Any US law that favors respect for American laws and sovereignty will not be viewed positively by Mexicans.
This puts it all in perspective, doesn't it?
Anecdote from my neighborhood: the Mexican workers I've encountered daily (in the supermarket etc.) apparently have rediscovered their ability to speak English.
I am deeply sorry. /sarc off
You mean, Mexico no longer sees us as a nation of pushovers? Arizona ruined that image? Huzzah!
“Any US law that favors respect for American laws and sovereignty will not be viewed positively by Mexicans.

Indeed!
Response: It could simply be a desire to conquer. In my lifetime it was claimed that Mexican History text books taught that Mexico would take back the Southwest. The more radical Mexicans in this country preach reconquest today!
I would imagine that the handouts serve two needs: (1) support for the Mexican and his family; (2) a sign as to just how sick and weak the American really is.
Finally a realistic post. I agree!!
Thank you very much for pointing out this poll.
The current image is “in the USA everything is free and you’re not responsible of anything”. That image would be better destroyed.
Good. Maybe they’ll stay in Mexico instead of trying to illegally invade my beloved country.
If I were the president, my administration would make it a policy to educate the Mexican public about what a negative experience they will have if they try to come here illegally.
I would make sure to widely disseminate the tragic outcomes that await people and their families when they make the unfortunate decision to break our laws and attempt to live and work here without full immigrant documentation as required by law.
And I would use the bully pulpit to pressure Congress into passing new immigration laws that virtually mirror the ones now in effect in Mexico.
you could, in theory, give back the ones you listed that were obtained from mexico. But, Texas did not come to the US from mexico. If Texas is no longer part of the Union, it reverts to the Republic of Texas - if mexico wants to fight texas a 2nd time, that’s up to them - just sayin’....
Sure it does, the image they've had of us for decades now is that we're a bunch of suckers that don't mind paying for their way in life. They're a terrible neighbor, I refuse to vacation there and buy their products unless no other option is available.
So Mexicans will quit coming here illegally now?
i’d like to see the results of a poll to see if Americans have a positive view of mexico.
Pardon me. I hope it drops to 10%. And quickly. And stays there. Maybe that will discourage some of the bastards.
I am totally ok with this. Let’s quit sending them money and see if we can get those numbers to drop even further.
Ping!
Who cares what Mexico thinks of us? They usually vote against us at the UN and speak out against most things we do. We need to do what is best for this country and quit coddling Mexico and their people.

Agreed!
That poll's true meaning can only be understood if you also note another Zogby poll of Mexican citizens. (LINK): Do you agree or disagree that the territory of the U.S. Southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico? Do you agree or disagree that Mexicans should have the right to enter the United States without U.S. permission?
