BP's chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg has revealed to Sky News that embattled chief executive Tony Hayward is to have a changed role in dealing with the oil spill, SkyNews.com reported.

Asked about Hayward's ongoing role, Svanberg said: "He is now handing over the operation to Bob Dudley."

But did he upset “the little” people?

I think this is a good move. I saw Dudley on FNS - he inspires a lot of confidence that BP can manage this crisis.

Hayward seems like a spoiled crybaby and well, the CEO has a propensity to offend the “small people”.

Hayward is not the one who made the ‘small’ people comment.

Hayward handled himself with a lot more dignity than the jackass senators did yesterday.

Hard to tell the difference between the dem sinaters and the code pinko crowd.

That was the chairman that made the “small people” comment - not the ceo.

It is clear that Tony has said some things that have upset people, me being one of those people. However, for some reason that I cannot explain, I found myself feeling strangely sorry for him as he sat before congress the other day. I don’t know what it was, but it seemed to me that our side came off wrong.

To be honest, it struck me as the sort of thing that could damage very old friendships. Am I off base on this? It just seemed kind of unseemly and needlessly disrespectful somehow.

Good on you for being able to keep track of all those titles. BP sounds like that old adage about too many cooks spoiling the broth. CEO and Chairman and Managing Director - makes it a lot easier to pass the buck. So, is the Chairman the big boss?

I watched those arrogant, tyrannical pompous senators yesterday and felt “that is how they view all Americans so they run roughshod over us.” I felt very angry just watching it.

I knew Hayward was not the one who made that comment - I double checked to make sure it was Carl-Henric Svanberg - just couldn’t keep all the titles straight.

Dang - we need an editing function!

You are right on the money. The senators were putting on a tough show for their voters who hate BP. But enough is enough. Kicking someone over and over like a bully does not show grace in trouble and also must truly be viewed as overkill in the UK. I was ashamed to see it yesterday.

God Bless Tony, finally free from the crude, crass, horrible behavior from our government. I am completely ashamed of our federal government. I truly hope that BP screws the hell out of United States, it is not worthy nor deserving of any mercy over this situation. Let those bas*ar*s in Washington take over the spill, just say “no more” and go. Forfeit your American assets and go thrive with the other oil companies outside of this fascist nation.

Boy, are you a horrible judge of character...btw, Mr. Hayward never referred to “small people” and perhaps you should consider that the person who did is not from this country and that his term was not meant in any way as an insult. It is just with the nazi like American politicians and their peasant class that twist that remark into something other than what it was. Shame on you for supporting that kind of trash.

Grace is an excellent choice of words to describe what was missing in yesterday’s affair. It did resemble kicking a man when he was down. It didn’t make me feel vindicated or justified, it just made me kind of sad.

What an awful mess this is.

I think you underestimate executives.

Nothing is as it appears, everything is lawyer tested.

BP knows Obama wants to bankrupt them and that if they escape the initial attempt they still have 30 years of lawsuits.

You don’t get to these positions at BP or ANY huge corporation by not knowing exactly how politicians play the game and when you hold and when you fold and when you bluff.

Somehow you forget that it was the CEO, not Hayward, that said that and even MORE IMPORTANTLY, he was responding to an accusation that BP is not concerned about the “small people”.

So WHO in the Obama administration told BP they don’t care about the “small people”....???

HMMMMMMMMM?
