Palin: It’s Perfectly Fine If You Want to Smoke Marijuana

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin one of the most influential conservative women of our time said during a recent appearance on Fox News that she doesnt have a problem with people smoking marijuana in their own homes. If somebodys gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody else any harm, she explained, they should be left alone.
Its great to see Palin adopt a more libertarian view on soft drugs. I wish the conservative movement as a whole would follow in her footsteps. If you believe in liberty and individual, rather than collective responsibility for your life, I dont quite see how you can support the extremely expensive, intrusive and otherwise over-the-top war on drugs.
Palins only caveat to legalizing marijuana altogether, by the way, is that she fears it sends the wrong message to children. Although I understand her concern, I have to disagree. Legalizing something doesnt mean its perfectly fine to do it, nor that its moral and wise. Moral values and wisdom shouldnt be legislated.

Countdown to the screaming posts claiming that Palin is pro-legalization and a kooky libertarian.

Let people grow it, as much as they want, and smoke it. Maybe not sell it in stores.

I’m not exactly a Palin fan, but to be fair to her -this is not what she said or meant...

Beware those who suggest legalizing drugs
They know it will cause binges and over use at the beginning of legalization, and they will use the confusion to steal power

You’re absolutely right. It’s absurd that even conservatives are misrepresenting what she said.
