Does Barack Obama want to be president?
Pajamas Media ^ | June 21, 2010 | Roger L. Simon

Posted on 06/22/2010 1:27:01 PM PDT by PJ-Comix

Ever since viewing his depressing and disconnected “energy” speech last week, I have been mulling whether Barack Obama actually wants to be president anymore. That was an address given by a man who looked very much like he didn’t want to be there, didn’t want to continue. He appeared slumped and worn, as if he aged eighteen years in eighteen months. His demeanor was oddly distracted.

I am not being metaphorical here — I am quite serious. The more I have thought about this, the more I am convinced Barack Obama no longer wishes to be president. The degree that he admits this to himself, I am not sure. But I rather suspect that in the small hours of the morning he fantasizes he were anywhere but 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And who could blame him? By almost any measure, he is doing a terrible job.

Of course, as we all know, Obama didn’t really expect to be president. This was to be a trial run. And then it took off. He ended up in the White House with virtually no experience that prepared him for the task. His superior intelligence was supposed to carry him through. Only intelligence — whatever his level — is just one component of leadership, and probably far from the largest one.

But the question here is not his qualifications. They are no longer particularly relevant. This is a beaten man, struggling to show he is not, even though everybody knows he is.

The media claque that put him in office is getting disaffected and now his party allies in Congress are beginning to disregard him, sometimes for the better. One of the early symbols of Obama’s disconnection was his remarkably unemotional reaction to the democracy demonstrators in Iran. His Iran policy continued to be a phony concoction of non-existent dialogue and toothless sanctions, right up to the latest round at the UN.

But now Democrats in Congress (even Chris Dodd!) are attempting to enact far tougher sanctions, embarrassing the president. Members of his cabinet are rumored to be deserting him — or he them (as if this made a difference). Most Americans despise his health care plan, which he enacted despite their opposition. The Gulf is still leaking, with no end in sight. And no one, certainly not the president, has an answer to our financial woes. And there is no reason to expect it is not going to get worse.

So what does this mean that POTUS hates his job? On the extremes, he could have a breakdown (as blogger David Thomson has predicted) or simply quit. Neither of these things are likely to happen, though they certainly are within the realm of possibility.

More likely he will stumble on, spending as much time as he can on the golf course or on vacation. Meanwhile, the role of the presidency will begin to diminish. More people will disregard his wishes. If the Republicans win big in November, he will retreat further. This man is not a fighter, because he has never had to fight. He lives in a very close, protective bubble, among people he has worked with for many years, most from Chicago. That will only increase as the wagons circle

Except for the most partisan among us, none of this is cause for rejoicing. America cannot thrive with a president who wishes he weren’t there. Nothing does. We can only hope that the damage that is done is reversible. Sometimes I think that it is. Sometimes not.

This explains why Obama continues to golf despite the Gulf crises. He knows it looks bad but just doesn't care. He wants to enjoy the goodies of the presidency while he can. It is actually the work he is supposed to do as president that he hates.

There were other presidents who HATED the job. Rutherford T. Hayes and Franklin Pierce come to mind. And now Barack Obama. He hates the job but will milk the presidency for his own benefit while in the White House.

There are two things that can be disastrous for someone in politics.
  1. Never geting what you want.
  2. Getting it.

Well if he wants to quit and go home to Kenya I’m okay with Joe Biden. At least you know you are dealing with intelligent life with Biden.

He wants to be President. The lifestyle is great... he and Michelle are like the Jeffersons, except that in the Jeffersons, Weezy was a solid character.

He likes the idea of changing society in his image, if not the amount of work it entails.

He is tempermentally unsuited to the task, because he’s a Marxist agitator. All he’s ever done is manipulate the legal system to grab a larger and larger share for whatever group he’s tied into. Ultimately, that doesn’t work at the national level, but we’ll all suffer before it is figured out, whether by him, or the MSM that enables him.

I’m okay with a Republican congress running the country for the next couple of years. This would all Mr. Skittles ample golf and party outings and would result in lower taxes and “get this” a budget. I know its hard to believe, but I am pretty sure Republicans can produce a budget.

The fun thing if this happens is watching the dem wolves attack their messiah. I think those Rainbow wolves will be the most vicious.

I agree. I think he is running away from the job. I have seen his light schedule posted on FR, and note the many vacations, parties, and sporting events. I think he senses everything crumbling around him. Rahm is leaving, who can take the place of Rahm. So he is safe only with David and Valerie.

Obama didn’t want to be President. He was talked into it by George Soros and John Podesta. The Communists got their Manchurian Candidate into office. They have the Cabinet, the Congress, the Courts under their belt.

What scares the Communists is although Biden is a lefty, he is probably not a Communist. That is why they want to wait until 2012 and possibly get Hillary in there.

The only way something can change is the Republicans take both houses, impeach Obama, ask for the cabinets resignations and start reversing what Obama put in place.

There is also another way this can change. We start suing every leftwing organization and force them to spend money. Reagan bankrupted the Communists. It is a proven technique.

He THOUGHT he would like the Presidency.

Now he sees that his consensus style isn't working and he is actually expected to make the hard decisions.

Bush did the hard work with grace and never complained. This little boy is starting to wish he had never run.

Well, I dunno, you know. You may have gone a step too far there, he hasn't mastered the use of the tongue yet.

These writers keep assuming the Obama gives a **** about anything or anyone but himself.

He’s having the time of his life.

His only previous job has been to break things (community organizing). That’s his forte. To break things.

He does not lose sleep over anything. This is a guy who campaigned for his cousin while people were burned to death in a church.

You think he cares about anyone or worries about anything? He doesn’t.

Even if the repubs win in November, obama is still occupying the office and he has the executive order power. He is dangerous indeed. He was recruited to be the guy who plays president on tv, but now has become a legend in his own mind. He has thrown a monkey wrench into every economic sector. The tax increases are going to hit this January during this depression. Yes we are in a depression. My guage of this is that his media refuses to call this a depression. They call this a jobless recovery. A recovery cannot exist without hiring.
Until this worthless POS is ushered out of dc, we are going to have a rough time. Just is what it is.

Question: "Does Barack Obama want to be president?"

Answer: This is the wrong question. The correct question being: Should "The Divine One" be President of the United States?

Look at it from my perspective, Obama quits, Biden ascends, everyone knows Biden to be a fool. Who in their right might would screw with an idiot in charge of the most powerful nation on earth? It is the greatest defense system known to man. Some country wants to screw with us, just point out we have an idiot holding the nuclear football and they will back down pronto. Or better yet, make them listen to him for a hour or two. They will surrender. Idiocy is really hard to take. Hell, we are practised at it, we have had Mr. Skittles for close to 2 years. Imagine what the rest of the world would have to go through??
